There are lots of people who have the internet to thank for their success, and Dani Cimorelli and her sisters are among them. The six siblings gained popularity after posting cover songs on YouTube, and then eventually went on to form an official singing group. They’ve been active for over a decade, and things seemed to be going well for the ladies. However, Dani, the youngest sister, decided to leave the group at the beginning of 2020. Her decision was amicable, but people are still shocked by her sudden departure. However, Dani explained that she was simply ready for a change. 1. She Never wanted To Do Music Forever
When Dani announced she was leaving the group in January, lots of people were caught off guard. However, for Dani, the decision to leave had been years in the making. She was only 10-years-old when Cimorelli started, and she never had any intentions on making music a lifelong career.
2. She’s Married
Dani is only 20-years-old, but she’s already found the person she wants to spend the rest of her life with. In December 2019, she married Emmyn Calleiro who is a well-known social media personality. Lots of fans speculated that her decision to leave the group had something to do with her marriage.
3. She Doesn’t Let Negative Comments Bring Her Down
Being in the public eye means countless people are going to have an opinion about every single thing you do. Unfortunately, those opinions won’t always be pleasant. This is something Dani has had to deal with for most of her life, but she doesn’t let the negativity impact her. She told She Knows, “I would say the No 1. way I deal with that is to just not look at it. Sometimes, I’ll do things that will cause a large group of people to get mad at me on Twitter, so what I do is just delete the Twitter app for the day or a couple days and I just won’t look at it because if I didn’t see it, did it really happen?”
4. She’s A YouTuber
Even though she’s no longer in the group, Dani is still doing her own thing – and that thing is social media. She started a YouTube channel in March of 2020, and she’s already gained 60,000 subscribers. Her videos have gained more than 2 million total views. Lots of her subscribers appreciate the authenticity that Dani has in her videos.
5. She Was In Musical Theater As A Kid
Before joining the band with her sisters, Dani was involved in lots of activities, but one of her favorite was musical theater. Her mother worked at a local theater company which allowed Dani to join the group a little earlier. During her time with the company, Dani appeared in several plays including Peter Pan and Annie.
6. She Was Homeschooled
Dani was home schooled all of her life – even prior to being in Cimorelli. While being home school has its perks, it also meant that she wasn’t really able to make a lot of friends. Sadly, she had to miss out on some of the ‘normal’ experiences most people tend to have during school.
7. She Was On A Swim Team
Dani may not have gotten the chance to be around kids her age at school, but she made up for it in other ways. In addition to being part of a local theater company, Dani was also on a swim team. The team wasn’t very competitive but she still enjoyed getting the chance to participate in swim meets.
8. She Wanted To Be Fashion Designer
Music may have seemed like Dani’s calling, but what she really wanted to be as a kid was a fashion designer. She developed a special appreciation for clothing and design. Dani even envisioned herself moving to New York City and breaking into the fashion industry.
9. Her Experience Being In The Band Wasn’t Always As Fun As It Seemed
Spending your childhood in a band probably seems like a dream come true for most people. However, that wasn’t entirely true for Dani. Although there were lots of perks that came with being a star, it was also very lonely. In a YouTube video, Dani explained that she started to deal with feelings of depression when she was only 12-years-old due to the isolation she felt from other people her age.
10. She Played Water Polo
Luckily for Dani, she was able to see a light at the end of the tunnel in the form of water polo. Joining a water polo team gave Dani the chance to be around kids her age and enjoy the experience of being a typical kid. She ended up having to quit the team when her band schedule got too hectic.
