The video might only be 16 seconds long but it tells the entire story. Earlier this week Tony Romo announced he’d be retiring from the NFL to move into broadcasting. Romo will be joining Jim Nantz in the booth to call games on CBS. So where does that leave Phil Simms? Simms is out. Today Chris Simms, Phil’s son said that he thought Nantz was 100% in on the firing. Nantz does have some say in the network and they did need his approval to remove Phil Simms.
But why was Phil ousted? We all know folks. The elephant in the room is so obvious it’s not even funny. It’s something that Jim Nantz will never recover from. Remember the time Phil Simms farted on live television? I’m pretty sure that Jim Nantz remembers and I’m pretty sure he’ll never let it go. Just remember something folks, you can talk to Nantz however you want. You can joke with him however you want, but if you fart on the guy, that’s where he draws the line.
I’m willing to bet money that Tony Romo has some kind of “no fart” clause in his contract. As for the real reason Phil Simms was let go? I have no idea and I don’t care. I’m sure he’ll latch on somewhere. They just better not have butterbeans in the fridge because “butterbeans can get anybody.” Please tell me some of you got that last inside joke.
