Jenna Shaw made this epic Harry Potter monopoly board for her friend who really wanted one! Surprisingly they do not exist so she spent 80+ hours on the board layout, the cards, and all the extra details. You can just imagine a Potter fan getting wind of this. They’d probably offer to pay Shaw a bundle if they could, but the question is if Shaw would actually be able to do so. Chances are she’d have to first get permission, obviously, and then shell out a good deal of her profits in royalties. It’d be a good idea if it could be financially feasible.

It’d be easy enough to stick to the given colors, no use changing the game up that much really. But obviously the names on the cards would have to change quite a bit and the rates for cottages would replace those of hotels and houses and so on.

The railroads would obviously have to change since the Potterverse really only has the one that is ever discussed. The inclusion of the Quibbler and the Daily Prophet are a nice touch, so is the Floo Powder and the Portkey. I would imagine the rates for each card would be extremely expensive just as in regular Monopoly.

Instead of Chance and Luck you now have Charms and Potions. It’s definitely keeping with the Harry Potter them as well as the Monopoly one and it’s pretty interesting to see how far Shaw went with this. The usual layout for the game would obviously be kept but the details would need to be changed overall.

Take note how Go to Jail is now Azkaban. Personally I think I’d rather go to jail, whether I’m just visiting or actually going. The board looks awesome and the detail put into it is just amazing. I kind of wonder if Shaw did all the drawings or had help of some sort.

It’s also fair to wonder just who made the little figurines for her, unless she did that too or found ones that would work for this particular game. If Shaw did all of it, and I’m not making any assumptions at the moment, then I am beyond impressed. I’m impressed anyway really.

Because there’s virtually no paper money in the Potterverse players would use these different coins as currency. Likely as not you’d have to know which was which and how much each one was worth in regards to how much you had to pay out. The rules look very extensive however and there should be no real confusion as to what to do.

I absolutely love the fact that the wooden box made for the bank has the seal of Gringotts on the front, that is so perfect. This game looks like it took a lot of effort and time to make and it’s just too great. If Shaw could ever gain the needed permission and get the go ahead I think this could be a very marketable item. Potter fans alone would likely go out and purchase it just to have it in their homes.
