What Can we Expect from Shades of Blue Season 3?

OK, so you have J-Lo and Ray Liotta on the same canvas in Shades of Blue. How could it help but be a major hit? And, it is, and then some. The hit show is heading for its third season and fans of the cop drama can’t wait to see what the writers have in store for them this go-round. And, if the previous two seasons are any indication of what is to come, it’s going to be a bumpy ride!

Short Season

Now, fans may not be so happy to hear that season 3 of Shades of Blue won’t commence until Fall of 2017 after football season. They’ll probably be even unhappier about the fact that, instead of the normal 13 episodes, this season will only have ten. J-Lo’s character, Harlee Santos, and Liotta’s character, Wozniak, will undoubtedly continue walking that thin blue line between legal and illegal, moral and immoral as a part of that wonderful underlying narrative of ambition, desperation, and loyalty that surely sets the show a step above standard storylines of police corruption and good cop/bad cop.

Comings and Goings

There are a lot of comings and goings in Season 3 of Shades of Blue, so let’s start with the introduction of Victor Turpin in the recurring role of the son of a filthy rich [aren’t they all?] Colombian drug lord named Enrique. This casting promises to bring viewers lots of shoot-em-up excitement revolving around the drug cartels. Fans will surely be looking forward to seeing how Enrique interacts with the other characters as they navigate their way between black and white and land somewhere in the gray area of the law.

And, as far as the goings go, fans will be shocked by this spoiler. Harlee has been involved for quite a while, [19 episodes to be exact], with a very nice guy named James Nava played by Gino Anthony Pesi. Not only is he a hunk but he’s one of those straight-arrow types. He treats her right and she’s becoming more and more fond of him by the day. Unfortunately, in Season 3, he dies a violent death. Harlee is being restrained by several other cops but breaks free and rushes to his side. She is inconsolable as she embraces her special love during his final dying moments. She’ll be seen later in another scene at a podium in church giving a eulogy for her fallen lover. Very dramatic stuff!

More Sex, Drugs, and of course, Violence

So, aside from all of that, Season 3 of Shades of Blue is sure to provide plenty of action and adventure. And, undoubtedly all the characters will continue to bend the law almost to the breaking point. Whether they’re members of Wozniak’s not so by-the-book squad or the always complicit FBI agents, they all lend a colorful backdrop to the big picture of rampant crime in the Big Apple and the men and women who fight it. Will Harlee find love again? Will Wozniak get his wife to take him back in spite of his occasional gay dalliances? Will Harlee’s lovely young daughter continue to flirt with danger or go back to aspiring to be a consummate musician? I guess we’ll just have to wait and find out.
