Gotham Preview: Bruce Pulls a Gun On His Killer but Will He Shoot?

First a bit of news on some Gotham cast members. Ben Mackenzie and Morena Baccarin welcomed a baby girl on March 2nd. They named her Frances Laiz Setta Schenkkan. I’m not 100% sure how to react to that name so we’d like to congratulate those two. Now let’s get to business. We’ve got an interesting episode on tap for tonight entitled “Wrath of the Villains: This Ball of Mud and Meanness.” What’s going on this episode? Here are the main plot points and we’ll get into some further analysis afterwards. First off, Alfred and Selina help Bruce try to find his parents’ killer. Next up, Gordon questions Edward Nygma about Kristen Kringle’s whereabouts. And finally, Dr. Strange continues his work to reduce Penguin’s aggression.

Let’s get to the main plot which is what the series has been advertising the most (see the trailer above). Not only does it look like Bruce finds the killer, but Bruce is about to do a little killing himself. While we know the beginning of the rage for Batman stemmed from this murder, this is a nice take on it.  Bruce, like in other instances, is just a boy but in this case he’s got a sinister way about him as he’s potentially about to shoot someone in cold blood.  Not sure if he’ll do it this episode as we’re left hanging but who knows. Bruce also says, “I was there. You looked right at me.” He also introduces himself as well. Now let’s get on to what I believe will be the second largest plot of this episode: The Penguin. Here’s a sneak peak:

According to TV Guide:

It seems that Penguin has graduated from his visual aversion therapy to real-life exercises, beginning with “The Ice Cream Test.” To see whether Penguin’s violent impulses and obsession with revenge are still lurking under the surface, Strange and Mrs. Peabody (Tonya Pinkins) give him the only serving of ice cream in the Arkham cafeteria. Naturally, the other patients become upset that they didn’t get ice cream and Penguin is left to defend himself.

What’s extremely odd here is that we’re seeing a Penguin who won’t fight back and that’s just disturbing to watch.
