Breaking Down the “Stargate Origins” Final Trailer

Just two weeks before the main event is scheduled to launch, the final trailer for “Stargate: Origins” is released. If you enjoyed the series, here is the piece that will take you back to the beginning. It contains information that has not yet been discussed about the “Stargate” franchise. The final trailer gives us some clues about what we can expect from the new twist on “Stargate” in a prequel that has been so highly anticipated.

Creation and introduction

The trailer introduces us to the events that took place prior to the film that kicked off the popular television series. Writers Justin Michael Terry and Mark Iveldson came up with an aspect of the original movie that had not yet previously been explained to the viewership. This is just one of the factors that make the upcoming release so exciting. Mercedes Bryce Morgan directs the cast in the story that has got to be told. We’re only given a two minute snippet of what is to come, which still leaves a lot of questions, but the introduction packs as much action and intrigue into a few minutes as possible.

What we can expect

We’re going to see the debut of a brand new prequel series. The Stargate was first discovered back in 1928 by Paul Langford. We get the sense from the tone of the trailer that there will be mystery and danger. It will be set in the time period of 1939 when Langford, along with Catherine, his daughter, are attempting to understand more about the ancient relic that they found when working in the desert of Egypt some ten years earlier. The war in Europe is set to interfere with the research they’ve been conducting and as a cataclysmic era in time unfolds, time is running out.

Danger and intrigue

We’re introduced to Dr. Wilhelm Brucke, who is a Nazi Occultist who is poised against Catherine and her friends. She is aided by two soldiers who accompany her on her adventures. Her father has been captured and the three are on a mission to rescue Langford from the clutches of a sinister and fearful enemy who is bent on plunging the Earth itself into a period of darkness and despair. We can tell immediately that it is a save the world movie and it puts you immediately in mind of the “Indiana Jones” franchise because of the setting and the level of adventure that takes place.

More on the history of the Stargate

The writers have taken this aspect of the franchise in a new and interesting direction that should shed some light on questions that were previously unanswered by the original series. We get to see Langford as a younger man, whereas he was older in the original. We can’t tell by the brief collection of scenes yet, what inferences will be drawn to the original series, but we’re hoping that there will be some really cool tie ins. We’re wondering along with other viewers, just how the writers plan to tie the Origins film and series in with the previous success of the Roland Emmerich film from 1994. If what we’re seeing on the trailer is accurate and they gate actually functions in this film, there could be a bit of a disjoint with the original, as the scientists had not yet discovered how to operate the ancient device. We’re hoping that it remains true to the context of the the story, but we’ll have to wait and see. We do know that Ellie Gall will play the part of Catherine Langford and the character will learn about the true nature of the gate.

The “Stargate: Origins” film will become available for streaming on February 15, 2018.
