Bones 4.23: The Girl in the Mask

Bones 4.23: The Girl in the Mask

In the very first scene, we are introduced to the Mystery of the Missing Interns. Their probations are over and Bones is reviewing their work. She is taking Booth’s advice on deciding who to hire by not just going with grades. Clark is the most experience; Wendell has the most potential, and I think she said that Vincent (Wiki) was the most intelligent. What to do? What to do?

Hold that thought. Booth’s phone rings. It is his friend Sgt. Ken Nakamura calling from Japan. Ken’s sister is living in DC and she has not called him in several days. If Ken flies in, will Booth help him find her? Booth tells to calm down. Booth will find her and make her call her brother and apologize for worrying him. It’s no trouble; that’s what friends are for as we are about to learn in “Bones and Booth Go Japanese.”

Booth asks a buddy at the FBI for information on file on Sachi Nakamura’s visa. While he waits for results, Bones asks how he knows Sgt. Ken. Booth met him on an exchange program in Japan. Bones is surprised that the missing girl’s parents aren’t concerned. Booth says that Sachi’s mother and father are dead and that Ken is both big brother and parent. Booth quickly receives a reply on his inquiry. Sachi’s car was found abandoned at some salt marshes, apparently a preferred site for dumping bodies.

Officer Lisa Kopek meets Booth and Bones on the scene (they named her even though this was her only scene; I might was well give her the same credit.) She informs them that there is no sign of the girl but there is blood on the car upholstery. Nozomi Sato, Sachi’s roommate, is also missing.

Bones wanders through the area near the car. She walks straight into the marsh when she sees something in the water. She finds a submerged mask and shouts to Booth that it appears to be Japanese. She lifts it out of the water and finds a severed head behind the mask.
