Spider-Man: Homecoming has been building up quite the cast, but there has still been no official press release yet on the full list of actors involved or who anyone is playing. One of the stars who was recently added was Fargo season 2 star, Bokeem Woodbine. There has been no word on who Woodbine would be playing or what the extent of his role would even be in the film, until now.
In a supposedly exclusive story to Marvel Cinematic Universe on Facebook, they are claiming to have been informed that Woodbine will in fact be playing Herman Schultz a.k.a. “The Shocker.” Woodbine has displayed he can naturally play a villain role which would make this a good fit and allow him to have some more fun than his other roles.
While The Shocker is not necessarily a primary villain, he is definitely a frequent pain in Spider-Man’s butt. The character is an engineer who becomes a burglar and eventually develops gauntlets that can shoot air blasts that vibrate at a high frequency, shocking the person they hit.
Although next to nothing is known about the Spider-Man: Homecoming plot, hopefully Woodbine won’t be a side character who we watch get beat in the movies opening scenes and disappear completely after that because the man has too much talent. The Spider-Man: Homecoming cast seems to keep getting bigger, and hopefully that won’t take away from the movie in the end.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to hit theaters next year on July 7, 2017. The movie will follow up the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and should be a huge hit now that the character is finally back with Marvel in some form. Despite fans having to wait a year for one of the most popular characters to appear on the big screen again, it’s great to see some character announcements finally being released.
