Beatie was born in London, England on October 23, 1962. Her given name is Beatrice Edney. She is the daughter of famous British actress Sylvia Syms. Entertainment runs in the family as she is also the cousin of musician Nick Webb and the sister of Benjamin Edney, who starred in “Brief Encounters” in 1974 and “The Desperados” in 1969 as the son of his mother Sylvia Syms who is his mom in real life.
2. Beatie’s big break came in 1986
Beatie Ednie landed the role of Heather MacLeod in the movie “Highlander,” released in 1986. She got into the ground floor of the popular film series. Beatie was brought back in a reprisal of the same role in the “Highlander: Endgame” installment in 2000. The new and fifth season of the BBC series “Poldark” has been approved and the cast was invited to attend the premiere of the new season. While this should have been a joyous occasion for all involved, Beatie instead, felt slighted. While at first, it appeared that she was not going to be sent an invitation, the situation resolved after she shared her disappointment. She went to social media and let everyone know that she hadn’t been invited. Beatie later retracted the statement and explained that there was a “mix-up” and that the invitation had in fact been extended, but it arrived too later for her to make plans to attend. The screening was held in Cornwall. The BBC weighed in and explained that she had been invited but that they were told she couldn’t be there. This was a drama that stirred up a fuss among aging actresses who have felt that they too have been slighted because of their age by the BBC. It is still unclear precisely what the situation was, but from all appearances, it has been resolved to everyone’s satisfaction.
