With all of the crazy news out of the Batman universe, hearing about a potential board game makes me extremely happy. Yesterday we posted the Injustice 2 trailer which looks pretty solid. We already know that Matt Reeves is directing The Batman which will star Ben Affleck. Hold on a sec. Let me take a step back and say something.
Is it safe to say that Batman will never be the same again without Christopher Nolan at the helm? I’m just not sure I can ever get behind a Batman movie again unless I know in some way that Nolan is involved. I don’t need Christian Bale to be involved. I just need Christopher Nolan. There, I got that off my chest. I bring this up because my interest has completely waned on anything feature film having to do with Batman, and that’s sort of depressing.
Comics? Sure. Animation? Absolutely. LEGO? Obviously. I feel like anything but movies (except for LEGO but that doesn’t really count, I’m talking human acting) is where I’m open to any and all things Batman. Which is why I’m kind of pumped at a Batman board game. According to Bleeding Cool
Monolith, a small games company, announced yesterday that they are going to be debuting the prototype of their Batman boardgame at the 2017 Games Festival in Cannes. The project will be crowdfunded like their previous efforts, Conan and Mythic Battles: Pantheon.
While not up on Kickstarter just yet, we do have some clues about the game from the image they shared to their Facebook page. Up to five players, Catwoman, and the Joker. Now all of that could be misleading. The extra chair could be designed for the person teaching the four players how the game works, it could even be a one-on-one. I’m betting on 4 players, personally.
As long as attention is being drawn away from Batman movies, I’m happy.
