So who was the most bankable movie actor of 2017? You know you’ve had a good year if you make a list like this, since it means that you’re movies have been hitting blockbuster status or at the very least have been watched, bought, downloaded, and streamed so many times that you’ve become something of a legend and are worth every cent that Hollywood is throwing your way. There are many actors that strive to make a list like this and are constantly seeking to achieve the top spot in the acting world for many different reasons. But when it comes to being the most reliable individual onscreen there are only a few that can really aspire to such a title.
Just thinking of how much they make per year is hard to fathom.
5. Johnny Depp-$1.1 billion
If not for the last Pirates movie flopping so badly he might be a little higher on this list but Johnny Depp is still something of an enigma in the acting world. He can be just about anyone he needs to be in a film and he’s not averse to playing either a truly horrible role or someone that’s just outright detestable in order to make the movie work. In other words you might not like him but he’s one heck of an actor.
4. Emma Watson-$1.3 billion
Of all the kids that starred in the Harry Potter franchise she might not have been the one that people were really thinking would reach this kind of mark. But that was before she was cast into a role that had already been made famous and was known to children and their parents the world over. This role alone in Beauty and the Beast is what helped put her this high on the list I’m thinking.
3. Gal Gadot-$1.4 billion
It’s already been said a good many times before but one more time can’t hurt. Wonder Woman came in at just the right time since it’s been about the empowerment of women this year and there was no better standard to follow than the one hefted by Diana Prince. There were a lot of names thrown into the hat for this role but ultimately she had the look and the acting talent to pull it off.
2. Dwayne Johnson-$1.5 billion
You can’t deny that he’s just awesome. Ever since he started making his way from the ring to the big screen Dwayne Johnson has been lighting it up in a way that most folks have found highly entertaining. He kind of bombed out in the first version of the Scorpion King but he came back again and again until he got it right and started making his name known in Hollywood.
1. Vin Diesel-$1.6 billion
This is just a little surprising since the latest XXX movie didn’t seem to spark a lot of buzz, but then Fast and Furious franchise has always been a cash cow and it’s elevated Vin Diesel to this level all on its own really. The other roles he’s played throughout his career have bolstered that effort as well.
Men might still be at the top of this list but women are making their way steadily up the ladder.
