Baby Daddy Review: Emma’s Birthday Surprise!

Oh Emma, Emma, Emma. Five seasons ago we were introduced to a sweet little girl left in the arms of a helpless party boy. Now as Emma celebrates another birthday, she’s proving she’s daddy’s girl-sweet and mischievous. Ben spends all his time this week trying to give Emma the birthday she wanted, but Emma had her own ideas on birthday presents. One didn’t work out that well for her, but the other… well turn away now if you don’t want major spoilers from the Season 5 finale of Baby Daddy.

Let’s get that twist out there if you haven’t heard already. In the closing moments of Season 5 Riley dropped a bombshell to the Wheeler family: Danny is going to be the next Baby Daddy! Yup, Riley is pregnant! So how exactly does Emma factor into all of this? First let’s recap how Emma’s birthday events led up to the big pregnancy reveal.

Ben forgets Emma’s birthday in favor of a street fair that the bar is sponsoring, so decides to just combine the two events together. This is just the tip of the running feeling of overwhelmed everyone begins to feel. Brad finally comes home to Bonnie, but with very different, primitive ideas of how his life with Bonnie is going to be from now on. Naturally Bonnie spends the episode trying to fix her husband. Danny and Riley hit a rough patch when he gets an offer to play for Vancouver and she finds out she is on the short-list for junior partner. A miscommunication has Danny contemplating Riley’s selfishness before she can properly explain herself. Poor Tucker gets his dream job offer of being an entertainment television host in L.A., but he can’t get a word in edge wise dealing with everyone else’s issues.

All this drama going on, and all Emma wants for her birthday is a pony ride. While Bonnie yells at Brad, Riley wins Danny’s heart all over again, and Tucker shouts to the sky that he got his dream job because only the birds are listening at this point, Emma takes matters into her own hands. She takes off while her family is sorting through things, finds her way to a pony and winds up in the hospital. A tear-strained and injured Emma makes Ben realize he needs to be alone with Emma for awhile. This is good for everyone since they can go on their own adventures. Before they do, Riley gifts Danny with a pacifier of his own to explain he is going to be a dad.

Now how does Emma factor into this? Well remember when Emma thought it would be a fun idea to poke holes in all of her dad’s condoms? Turns out Emma gifted herself a new cousin! Could she also be getting a new stepmom in the next year? Ben’s repeated meet cute with a special stranger could be in the running come next season.
