Our Five Favorite Arya Stark Fan Theories of All-Time

It stands to reason that Arya Stark is now one of the most noted and interesting characters in the entire Game of Thrones series, but it was not always thus. I do think I’ll agree with Paul Sacca from Brobilble that her story is absolutely compelling and is likely going to be one of those that’s the most exciting to watch as it unfolds. It’s fun to recall that back in the beginning of the series she was the little girl that wanted to act like a soldier and was never taken seriously, was berated by her sister, and seemed to live to trouble her parents to no end. By the time she put Joffrey in his place though it was kind of apparent that Arya wasn’t just another character that was bound to be forgotten by the next season. She was someone to be reckoned with despite her diminutive size and less than fierce bearing. As of now it’s easy to agree with Brighton Lindberg from Odyssey that Arya is a certified badass.

Here are a few theories that Paul and a few others have agreed upon could be coming for one of the fiercest members of House Stark.

5. Arya will come to sit on the Iron Throne.

This one seems fairly unlikely but as it’s been seen on Twitter there is some room for interpretation since Maisie Williams did tweet a picture and a rather heartfelt goodbye to the show that came with a rather interesting image. Red Team Review was able to post this along with many others but it is still something that people are talking about since it could very well mean that Arya has managed to finally take her place upon the most coveted seat in Westeros, somehow, and might now rule among a nation that’s been sorely depleted and left for the crows, a fitting analogy really when you think about it.

4. By the end Arya will go on her own long adventure.

It seems very fair to say that Arya is the most restless of the characters in GoT and isn’t bound to sit still even if the theory above is able to come true. She almost seems destined to keep exploring the wider world as she now fears no one to be honest, if the killing of the Frey’s and her ability to stand toe to toe with Brienne are any indication. Using the skills given to her in previous seasons would enable Arya to make her way into a wider world where the only downfall she might encounter might come from not fully anticipating that she has more to learn. At this point however, Arya seems ready to take on just about any challenge.

3. Arya and Gendry become man and wife by the end.

This seems a little less likely since Arya doesn’t seem like she might be the type to settle down at the moment and Gendry is, well, he’s Gendry. He’s not entirely convinced of his place in the world unless he’s working, and his bloodline, attached as it is to the Baratheon name, is not as pure as people would want for a ruler, no matter that the rules have been changing throughout the seasons. You could say that his case is not as unique as Jon Snow’s and you’d be right, but it’s still worth noting that he does have Robert Baratheon’s blood in his veins and he is a formidable individual that kind of needs to be elevated in a much bigger way.

2. It’s possible that Arya might die in battle.

It kind of has to be said that any actor coming onto this show needed to be aware that at any time their number might be up and no matter how long a character lasts it doesn’t insure them any more safety than the next person. Sean Bean found this out as he does in nearly every movie he’s been in, and a lot of folks thought that the patriarch of the Starks would last for a while yet. But obviously George R.R. Martin isn’t a big fan of keeping everyone around as he tends to clean house so to speak and move on. Without Martin’s input on this coming battle though it’s going to be interesting to see just how Arya conducts herself and what side of the veil she’ll fall on when all is said and done.

1. Arya will finally kill Cersei.

This seems to be a theory that many people want to see and you can’t blame them since Cersei is a rather miserable and grasping character that hasn’t had a lot of redeemable qualities since the beginning of the series. The fact that she’s a part of Arya’s continued litany is no accident after all since Cersei did have something to do with the death of Arya’s father and she’s been wanting a piece of the queen ever since. It would be kind of amusing if the Hound and Arya were able to take on the Mountain and Cersei at some point during the final season.

There are a few more theories out there, but these are some of the favorites that have kept people buzzing about the upcoming season so far.
