I literally wrote an article yesterday about the movie Wonder Woman and whether or not it’s a healthy form of empowering women. One of the biggest points I made in the article is how in many forms, there are some women out there using the empowerment movement as an excuse to post racy pictures on their social media accounts for personal gain. The biggest culprit out there is Ariel Winter. Winter toes the line with every single photo she shares and draws a ton of criticism. While Winter claims she doesn’t “care what people think” many argue it’s the complete opposite. What Ariel markets as her being “proud of her body” many are starting to think is simply shameless marketing for her own brand. Here’s a photo she posted on Memorial Day with the caption “Happy #MemorialDay”

The photo enraged the internet. A couple responded with lines such as:
“Are you serious? Post whatever pics you want but this particular one does not jive with what memorial day is about.” Another said,
“This has NOTHING to do with Memorial Day!!!”
You have to admit these people have a point. At what point does Winter cross the line from “Women’s empowerment” to “dressing extremely provocatively just to draw attention?” I’m pretty sure she crossed the line on Memorial Day as well as numerous other instances.
As a male I find Winter to be attractive but let’s get this straight. I don’t believe her for one second with this whole “I’m proud of my body” crap. Sure, she’s proud of her body and she knows she’s attractive hence why she’s posting these pictures. But let’s not mistake WHY she’s posting these pictures. It’s for HER and not for women around the world to be proud of their bodies.
