America’s Got Talent: Never Stop Chasing Dreams. Simon Presses Golden Buzzer

America's Got Talent

People from all over North America (and beyond) audition for America’s Got Talent because they have a dream. They want to chase it till they can’t chase it anymore. In tonight’s episode, however, I felt that some acts just aren’t made to be performed on the AGT stage.

There were a few acts that I just didn’t quite get and couldn’t wrap my mind around why they think that their act is worth a million dollars and a headline show in Las Vegas. The show is in its eleventh season; you’d think the showrunners would know good acts from bad ones. Unless they believe that these mediocre, borderline annoying performances can offer comedic relief.

In my honest opinion, these acts should not even be allowed to audition. I mean, sure, I commend them on their bravery to show America what their talent is, but if said talent doesn’t have any talent whatsoever, then perhaps they should stick to their day jobs and leave the talent portion to those that actually possess it.

The quick changing act from the husband and wife team was great, but I have seen this kind of performance before, so it’s not anything new aside from the fact that they designed all of the costumes. I am curious to see what they can do in the next round. Hopefully, it will be something fresh and exciting.

I loved the other magic act from a football player from the Philadelphia Eagles. It was quick and flawless that I couldn’t decipher how he did it. Though if he were to win the competition, the million dollars would be like pocket money instead of a life-changing amount because athletes in professional sports get paid buttloads of money. On the other hand, the man did say that NFL stands for Not For Long, so there is the possibility of him retiring from the sport and would then be able to pursue his magic dreams.

We also get to finally find out what Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer act is, and it was phenomenal. A sixteen-year-old girl named Calysta Bevier, who is a survivor of ovarian cancer, belted out Rachel Platten’s Fight Song as a musical symbol of what she had gone through. Her voice was mesmerizing, and though there was a hint of nerves, she pulled it off and earned a well-deserved spot in the live show. She also said something that I think those who have a dream should take to heart. Keep chasing your dreams.
