Alex Trebek Rapped The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Theme Song, And You Need to See It

Alex Trebek

If you’ve been dying to hear Alex Trebek rap again after the Jeopardy host first showed off his skills in 2014 , last night’s episode of the game show gave you exactly what you wanted. However, instead of dealing with a category that focused on music, the reason why Trebek was called to rap again was because of a TV-related category, which gave contestants the lyrics to the theme song to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Instead of simply saying the words, Trebek went for it, rapping “I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8 and yelled to the cabbie, ‘Yo homes, smell ya later!'” And trust me, Alex Trebek saying the words “Yo homes, smell ya later” with such gusto is something you’ll want to listen to again and again. Check out the video of Trebek rapping below:

I now want Trebek to sing (or rap, if the song calls for it) every TV theme song there is. Just imagine him singing “I’ll Be There For You” from Friends, or Gangstagrass’ theme for Justified, “Long Hard Times to Come.” Although, ideally, I’d love to hear his rendition of “California” by Phantom Planet from The O.C.

But even though this video is certainly hilarious, it’s still not my favorite version of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song. If you want pure comedy gold, you’ve got to watch this guy impersonate Sir Ian McKellen singing the Fresh Prince theme (although since the video has been around since 2009, I’m hoping you’ve seen it already).
