When you think of Hollywood, you think of big time celebrities and high-profile individuals. You think of entourages, of bright lights, and cameras that never stop flickering. Most of Hollywood’s recognizable and famous stars always have people around them to deal with situations or other people for that matter. It’s truly rare to find an individual who has status in the industry and somehow manage to handle it all on his or her own. Actually, we haven’t heard of any until we learned that that’s exactly what Abbie Cornish does. The Australian actress is pretty far along her career at this point, and she’s pretty successful as well.
Thinking about her background, you can say that Cornish had humble and fairly normal beginnings. She grew up in a farm, which she claims is the reason why she loves nature so much. We think that it’s also the reason why she’s so grounded. In a recent interview, Cornish supposedly handled everything herself. She scheduled the date; she showed up on her own and on time at that; she sent all the correspondence by herself. As ridiculous as that may sound, especially since those are all things that normal and average people do on a daily basis, it’s rare to find an actress scheduling her own meetings and interviews. It just is.
Most of the time, if you want to schedule a meeting with an actor, you’d have to go through agents and managers, be screened by various people before you actually get a chance at a 10 or 15-minute encounter with who you’re trying to interview. It’s ridiculous, you might think; but that’s what the life of a busy actor calls for. That’s not to say that it’s not possible however. Cornish manages to do her own publicity and handle her own career, and she’s fairly busy. Just last year alone, she had three films that was blockbuster status, and she did it all by herself.
What is it that drives this actress to do her own work and to pursue acting the way she does–with no extras, no frills, no agents, no managers? Apparently, it’s truly her drive and her passion for the industry that drives her the way it does. She has so many interests in life that she feels getting too deep into the acting will take the joy away from it all. That includes having a manager that will throw all acting opportunities at you like it’s the end of the world. Cornish likes to enjoy the process, and it seems that she’s pretty good at it too. She’s managed to stay relevant all these years, even though she’s not always in the spotlight. Cornish is a very talented actress and it seems that she’s managed to find the balance between personal and business. We’ll keep an eye out on what else this actress will do in the future, but for now, we’re glad that she’s enjoying herself in the work. We’re certainly enjoying everything that she puts out.
