A lot of people have been waiting for this moment, but they’re going to have to keep waiting until 2023 for The Mandalorian season 3 to make its way to the small screen as the trailer was recently released, much to the pleasure of many people. Ever since the second season ended and the fireworks started up over the firing of Gena Carano, a lot of fans have been wondering how the future of The Mandalorian would look. Then came the titular character’s appearance in The Book of Boba Fett, which received a healthy dose of negative reviews that didn’t always sound fair, in which Dinn Djarin helped Boba secure what could end up being his own empire. From that point, it was established that Djarin would be back on one adventure or another that would end up being a part of season 3. The thought that Grogu might have gone with Luke Skywalker was very real at one point since it was understood that the child needed someone to help tap into his Force abilities, but the fact that he decided to return to Din was the decision that a lot of people wanted to see. It’s also likely that it helped to save the show.

The Mandalorians aren’t going to be getting along, that’s obvious.

If there’s one thing that Mandalorians are good at doing, aside from being bounty hunters and warriors, it’s fighting their own when their ideologies differ. This was established in season 1 when the Armorer made it clear that Din was never to remove his helmet in the sight of others and that their way was The Way. This dogmatic approach to the code of the Mandalorians kept Din from evolving in a way, but as the season went on, and the second season came along, it was kind of obvious that Din wasn’t going to be able to hold to The Way with one hundred percent dedication any longer. The fact that the Armorer has actually stated that he’s no longer a Mandalorian is pretty harsh, but it does feel as though this argument is going to be a big part of season 3.

There will be a serious problem between Din and Bo-Katan.

This was already established at the end of season 2 when Din took possession of the dark saber. Since he had it in The Book of Boba Fett, Bo-Katan hasn’t tried to wrest it from his grip yet or hasn’t been successful, at least. But this showdown does feel like it’s coming, and there’s a good chance that we’ll see these two tangle before the season is over. How skilled the two of them are compared to each other is hard to say, but it does feel as though this will be more of a fight since the two have been trained for much of their lives, and they’ve both seen more than their fair share of action, who Din will end up siding with, if anyone, will be interesting to see. Given that the Armorer no longer wants him in her clan, and Bo-Katan doesn’t appear to be too crazy about him, it’s easy to think that Din and Grogu might be their own clan for a while, if not for good.

It’s fun to anticipate what characters might show up in season 3.

We’ve already seen Ahsoka, after all, and Boba Fett and Fennec Shand were a nice addition to the show since she turned out to be a fan favorite. Luke Skywalker was another great addition since he drove many people to tears when he was seen. But for season 3 it feels as though we should hopefully see Ahsoka at least once, and possibly Grand Admiral Thrawn since he was mentioned in season 2. There could be other guest stars on the way since this has been a common practice in the show since season 1, and it’s a big hope that continues. But trying to think of who might be expected is kind of tricky since one has to think about where season 3 will exit in the story and who would make the most sense to see. Cad Bane already met his end in The Book of Boba Fett, but it would be great to see other faces that might still be around.

It does sound as though the show will continue to season 4.

How far it will go after that is anyone’s guess since, at this point, season 4 was apparently being planned out before season 3 was even done. But considering how far Din stays away from some of the bigger conflicts in the Star Wars universe, it’s fair to think that this show should be able to continue for a while. Plus, the universe is a big place, and there’s always another war to be fought or another bounty to take on.

Season 3 can’t come soon enough.
