It’s been more than a year since we last saw John B, Pope, JJ, Kie, Sarah, and Ward Cameron throwing down on a cargo boat in the middle of the Atlantic. Season 2 ended with all the primary kids alive, Ward alive, and Rafe in possession of Pope’s family cross while Carla Limbrey works hard to ensure she gets what she wants. The last few episodes of season two left us utterly shocked as the crew was nearly killed. We thought Ward lost his life in the explosion on the boat, but he was later found alive. He tried to kidnap and hold Sarah hostage, but she was rescued. Now, she and her friends are left on a deserted island – alive, but for how long? The Cameron family has the gold and the cross, and Carla Limbrey shocked us all when she met with Big John. This confirms John B’s father is alive, but he won’t help her unless she helps him find his son. Will she do it? We already saw her kill her own half-brother, so we’re convinced that’s a no.
It’s been more than a year, and now we want to know what is happening with Season three. When is Outer Banks season 3 coming out in 2022? Is it even coming out in 2022? We know from following along with the everyday lives of some of the cast members on social media that they’ve been filming since spring and recently wrapped up a 3-week filming stint in Bermuda. They’ve been in Charleston, South Carolina, otherwise – even going so far as to surprise the fans at the Thomas Rhett concert on July 23 when Topper and John B came out on stage to sing along to a little “Friends in Low Places,” alongside Thomas Rhett (it was a moment no young girl will ever forget). But when can we expect season 3?
When is Outer Banks Season 3 Coming Out in 2022?
It’s not. That’s the simple answer. The rumor mill is currently working overtime on this one, but if you’re asking when Outer Banks season 3 is coming out in 2022, you are asking the wrong question. Rumors that it would be released on Netflix in December 2022 are incorrect. According to most sources, the show is not coming back to television for a third season until 2023. Even then, however, we don’t have a date. It’s a bummer, but the Netflix people likely know that Outer Banks is not typical Christmas viewing material. They might not want to release the show during a month when it’s Christmas movies, holiday parties, and family time taking precedence. However, January or February 2023 might make a perfect release date.

With ten new episodes, a January or February 2023 release date might just be the best. The holidays are over. Everyone is bored and looking forward to warmer months, and it’s the perfect time of year to release a show that everyone is waiting for with so much anticipation. Of course, we simply don’t know.
What Fans Can Expect from Season 3
Here is what we do know. Ward Cameron wants the world to think he is dead, so will he be around for much? Of course, he will. He’s one of the main characters, and there is no chance he’s living his life off the radar despite all the work he put into faking his own death. Additionally, we will learn a lot about what happened to Big John and his presumed death. How did he hide? How did he make it without actually dying? What is he doing with his life now? What’s his game? Will he and John B reunite? What’s going to happen to the Pogues? They’re on an island with no hope of rescue at the moment, but for how long?

We also understand that Rafe will continue to play a large role in the next season. However, will he get the help he desperately needs? He’s a murderer, a drug addict, and a problem child, and he needs significant help. Will we see Topper? What about Kie’s mom and dad and Pope’s dad when they realize their kids are missing and no one knows where to find them? Will they continue to blame John B? We know JJ’s dad won’t care where JJ is or if he ever comes home. They did not leave on good terms, and that relationship might be over. There are also a few new characters, but will they play the leading roles? Only time will tell.
