The first episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills of 2011 was about the husbands and the women who love them, too much in some instances. Also, we got a glimpse of Cedric’s past and a somewhat further truce in the Camille/Kyle feud.
After viewing the clip featuring Camille giving Kyle a book on “How To Behave,” I was sure the next bout between Kyle and Camille was not far behind. Tonight’s episode showed that while the truce was still on shaky ground somewhat, both of the ladies made some grand efforts to leave their previous spats behind them by inviting each other to the other’s events. Camille made the first gesture by inviting Kyle and the others to play tennis at her house, but the mood was almost ruined when Kyle brought up the New York incident again as a joke. Luckily that exchange was pushed to the side and out of sight and mind. With that said, Kyle shouldn’t have even referred the incident knowing that the ground was thinner than the average Beverly Hills woman.
Then Camille, probably in a slick retaliation, presented Kyle with the “How To Behave” book at Kyle’s White Party. It was in poor taste, but Camille insisted that the gesture was a joke, just as Cynthia claimed the ‘friend contract’ was on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. By the end of the night, the two had nothing negative to say to each other, which is great. To an extent.
Meanwhile, the men of Beverly Hills took a step in the spotlight in good and bad roles. Ken, who I’ve considered a posh version of Ozzy Osbourne, laid an earful to Lisa about Cedric’s long overdue stay, especially since Cedric doesn’t do much help around the place. Just as we think Cedric is a lazy loafer, he give us his horrible backstory of being left on the street by is mother after running away from her abusive boyfriend. The story was pretty painful to hear, but is it true?
Elsewhere, Taylor and Russell (aka Captain Buzzkill) had more issues tonight as Russell tried to steal Taylor’s sunshine again by not partaking in the festivities at Kyle’s White Party. Russell tried to get Taylor to leave because he wasn’t having any fun, but Taylor didn’t budge, prompting Russell to leave on his own. After a pep talk with Kyle, you would think Taylor had seen the light, but unfortunately she didn’t and left the party as well. It’s got to be hard to take up for that man after all the crap he’s done. She’s a good one, that Taylor.
Other incidents included the introduction of Pandora, Lisa’s daughter, whose boyfriend Jason tends to rile up Lisa and Ken by near proposing to Pandora every year in front of them. In short, it would get old quick and it’s safe to say the move is molded with Ken if his posture during the scene is any indication. Paul had his nose broken by his son again. Kim had a small reunion with Martin, her blind date from earlier in the season, which seemed a bit dry. Wonder what really happened between the two? Surely it was more than one person didn’t call the other person first…
Finally, the cracks in the marriage between Camille and Kelsey Grammer started to spread as hints were dropped about things to come. While the other shoe will drop next week, Camille still lived life as if there was nothing wrong. Albeit kissing your friend’s husband (Nick. Again.) on the lips while said friend is standing there wouldn’t be a surprising catalyst to your marital problems, Camille. Just saying.
What did you guys think about tonight’s episode? And how about reports of Camille leaving RHOBH after this season? Sound off.
