It’s really hard to say but it doesn’t feel like there needs to be a Kill Bill 3 since the story was told from beginning to end and the bad guys are all dead at this point, except maybe Sofie, and she’s really in no condition to come after Beatrix any longer unless she has an iron will that’s going to let her rise up and take her revenge. Or maybe Elle survived and, even without her sight, is planning something big. All we know right now is that according to Jeremy Dick of MovieWeb and many others that are covering this story, the chances of seeing Quentin Tarantino come back and create another Kill Bill aren’t entirely off the table just yet. How he’s planning to do this is still hard to imagine since there are a few ways to do it, but chances are it won’t matter since people are still so gaga over his techniques and methods that they’ll go and watch it all the same. Some people will go to see a movie even if his name is simply attached, no matter if he’s directing or starring or just mentioned as a producer or pretty much anything.
There is the matter of the idea that Tarantino will be wanting to retire eventually, and there’s still the mention of an R-rated Star Trek movie, as River Donaghey of Vice states, that he wants to do. So which is it? Is he going to retire or go back on his words? As of right now the movie wouldn’t be happening soon anyway since he’s planning on creating a play and then a limited TV series before he goes back to the big screen. But all in all it does sound as though he wants to do this, and he’ll only do it if he can come up with a story that he likes and can connect to the other two in a way that makes sense. Given how people have lauded him so much for his ability to create and craft a movie in a way that fits together like a well-oiled machine it doesn’t appear that he’ll have any trouble with this since the rest of his movies have already made a staggering amount of money and have made him a legend in show business. Still, there are a few reservations about the movie that some people might give voice to and they’re not entirely out of line.
His main antagonists are gone since a lot of people are assuming that Elle is dead. She was after all blind and hysterical in a trailer with a black mamba on the loose. Sofie was cut up so badly that even thinking about going after Beatrix would be tantamount to a suicide mission, and the only other individual that anyone can think of at this point would be the daughter of Vernita Green, Nikki. When you think about it she has every reason in the world to hate Beatrix and want to take her out since she did kill her mother and did so with her in the house. Beatrix even seemed to invite the girl to do so, perhaps thinking that it was only right that she come and take her vengeance when she was ready. Whether this is the story that Tarantino pushes or not however is kind of hard to say since it’s exceedingly simple but could be taken down so many different paths that it’s hard to gauge just what he would do. In a big way it’s probably the most likely path, but it’s also one that many people would likely predict and talk about since it’s also the one that would probably gain the most approval.
Since the next three years of his career are seemingly mapped out though it’s not likely that he’ll return to this anytime soon since he’s going to be way too busy to even think about starting something that has the possibility of being finished in due time. For a guy that wants to retire from film directing he’s already well on his way to transitioning away from the industry, but he’s not ready to go just yet. If he does go the fan outcry is going to be heard for months if not years to come since so many people believe in this guy that upon his last movie it might feel like he died in some way since people are no doubt going to lament his decision to move on. It might not be that bad but for some it’s going to be the end of an era since Tarantino has been a filmmaker that many have looked up to in a big way for a lot of years. Perhaps Kill Bill 3 would be his swan song, if he does intend to move on. It’d be fitting. Nick Evans of CinemaBlend has more on this matter.
