Jake Hoot has gained national attention as a singer who entered the competition on the nationally televised show “The Voice.” He turned chairs to become one of the hopefuls selected to compete for the grand prize in the seventeenth season of the show. Since making it through some of the most grueling competitions he has become a serious contender and he has also built a huge collection of fans and admirers who are interested in learning more about him. 1. He’s a native Texan
Jake was born in the state of Texas which makes him a native of the great state that has a reputation for doing everything “big.” He certainly is going big with his performances on the voice, but he hasn’t always been in Texas. His hometown is Corpus Christi, but he has moved around a lot in his life. He currently resides in Cookeville, Tennessee.
2. His parents were missionaries
Jake has led an interesting life and he’s been able to see a fair amount of the world. When he was only nine years old, his family moved to the Dominican Republic where they were stationed doing missionary work. This gave him exposure to another culture where he learned that there are people in the world who have diverse cultures and beliefs. It was a good experience that helped him learn more about the world that is out there and the wonderful people who are in it.
3. His passion for music started at an early age
Jake started playing the guitar and singing while he was living in the Dominican Republic. He got an early start on his music and it’s something that he’s been doing for some time now, so he’s had time to perfect his skills. He started playing before he was a teenager and at the age of 31, he’s been at it for a while now.
4. He started performing in college
When Jake was 20 years old he relocated to the state of Tennessee. He enrolled at Tennessee Tech University and he also played football when he was there, but he never lost his passion for music. He also performed at several gigs while he was in school. The gigs that he played helped him to gain confidence in performing on the stage in front of larger audiences.
5. Jake Hoot is a single dad
Jake met a lady that he fell in love with and the couple ended up getting married. They had a little girl together during the marriage, but things didn’t work out for them and they ended up going their separate ways. This left Jake as a single dad and it’s a fairly new life change for him that occurred shortly before his audition on “The Voice.” He is divorced and hoping to make his 4-year-old daughter proud of him through his performances on the show.
6. He dedicated a performance to his daughter
In one of his appearances on the show, Jake made a moving speech and dedicated a song to her. She is his world and he shared that there have been some hard times in their lives and he has had his ups and downs. The one thing that helps him to feel better is just holding her hand. The divorce was very tough on Jake, but his little girl is like a medicine and by the end of the performance, Kelly Clarkson was crying her eyes out.
7. Jake has moved on and found love again
For those of you who are feeling bad for Jake, it’s important to know that he has made it through the trauma of divorce and has started to build a new life for himself. He shared that he has met a special lady who also has a four-year-old little girl named Hadley. He shared that it’s tough for him to be away from Bekah while he’s been appearing on the competition, but it’s nice to know that he’s found someone special to share his dreams with.
8. “The Voice” approached him about auditioning
Producers from the show actually discovered Jake online. They were the ones who initiated the conversation that resulted in Hoot’s live audition which was held in Nashville, Tennessee. They invited him to try out and so he did. This gave him a fast track that allowed him to avoid the long lines of hopefuls who wanted to get their chance at the live auditions, many of which never made it. This streamlined the process for him. He first auditioned for the producers and he was then selected to fly to Los Angeles for the blind auditions in front of the four judges.
9. He made a lot of new friends
Jake’s experience on “The Voice” has brought a lot of benefits. In addition to gaining national attention, he has also had the opportunity to meet a lot of new people, most of whom are musicians and singers. He shared that he has even made some new friends in the process.
10. Jake Hoot is a rising star
Jake Hoot has come a long way in his career. He has a distinct country flavor to his music. He has done remarkably well making it past some of the toughest competitions against big talent in the contest. He’s a force to be reckoned with and even if he isn’t the number one singer in the show he will still emerge a winner. We fully expect Jake to be signed to a record label within a year of the closure of the competition as this is something that happens for the majority of singers who advance this far in the competition.
