Derek Luke as Marcus Moore
When an assassin breaks into his house on Purge night, Marcus Moore’s seemingly perfect life with its dream job and its dream wife is shattered. Playing Marcus is 45-year-old American actor Derek Luke. Since bursting onto the scene with an award-winning performance as Antwone “Fish” Fisher in Antwone Fisher (2002), Luke has developed a prolific career spanning both TV and film. In recent years, he’s become best known for his performances as Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs in the 2009 film Notorious, Gabe Jones in the 2011 film Captain America: The First Avenger, Gregory in the FX series The Americans, Malcolm Devoe on Empire, Anton in Self/less, Kevin Porter in 13 Reason Why, and Raymond in Supremacy.
Max Martini as Ryan Grant
Playing Max Martini, a laser-focused character whose entire year is spent getting ready for Purge night, is Ryan Grant. In addition to developing his talents behind the camera (following the success of his directorial debut, Sergeant Will Gardner, the multi-talented star is currently in the process of shooting his second feature film), Grant has starred in numerous TV and films, most notable Bigger, 13 Hours, Pacific Rim, Captain Phillips, Saving Private Ryan, the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, “Red Belt, Sabotage and Spectral.
Paola Nuñez as Esme Carmona
Paola Nuñez will play Esme Carmona, an NFFA surveillance expert whose life is dedicated to ensuring no one breaks the rules of Purge night. “She is a believer in the system, in the rules. She thinks that the NFFA works and she works for surveillance,” Nuñez said as she shared her thoughts about her character with The Work Print. “The reason that Esme started working for the NFFA was that she had a really traumatic experience with her family. Now she’s looking for something to save her. She finds a big secret that the NFFA is hiding. She feels betrayed by the system and that’s when everything changes for her.” Before landing her starring role in The Purge, Nuñez was most recently seen alongside Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in the feature film Bad Boys For Life. Previous credits include The Son, Palabra de Ladrón, Reina de corazones, and Pasión Morena.
Joel Allen as Ben
Ben, a clean-cut student whose life changes dramatically when he goes out on Purge night for the first time, is played by Joel Allen. Catching up with The Work Print at Comic-Con, the young actor gave us a little insight into his character, and what we can expect of him in the upcoming season. “Ben is really an average dude with really average grades,” he explained. “There’s nothing that stands out about him. “This is his first Purge. It’s kind of an initiation thing for being a part of this fraternity that you need to go out and take a picture at Suicide Bridge.” “The whole point of the character to me was to be a surrogate, a conduit for the audience because he is such a broad stroke of a paintbrush that we all kind of relate to the character so much,” he went on to say. “You really feel like, “Well, what would I do if I was in that situation on my first Purge.” Prior to The Purge, Allen was best known for his performance in the Sundance comedy Never Goin’ Back (2018), and can next be seen in Rollers and What Breaks the Ice.
Rochelle Aytes as Michelle Moore
Starring as Michelle Moore, Marcus’ loving wife, is Rochelle Aytes. The 43-year-old actress and model is best known as April Malloy in ABC’s Mistresses (2013-16), Perri “Pebbles” Reid in CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story, Agent Greer on the CBS television series Hawaii Five-0, and Amber James, the ex-girlfriend of Keith Watson, in the seventh season of ABC’s Desperate Housewives, and Savannah Hayes, Derek Morgan’s girlfriend, on the CBS’s Criminal Minds. Off-camera, Aytes works extensively with charitable organizations, including Donar See, a platform that allows donators to see the direct results of their contribution through raw footage.
Charlotte Schweiger as Vivian Rose
Playing Vivian Rose is Charlotte Schweiger. Schweiger began working as a child model at the age of 8, starring in ad campaigns for the likes of Lord & Taylor, Sax Fifth Avenue, Hanes, and Kenneth Cole. While studying Philosophy at CUNY Hunter College, she landed her first acting role in Marvell Rep’s production of Springs Awakening. She’s since appeared in the films The Transfiguration and Rapid Eye Movement, along with the TV shows The Blacklist and NCIS: New Orleans.
