As Bridget Lamonica from Den of Geek! has already said this season is starting out pretty much the way that people were hoping for since it’s been a thrill ride from the word go. There are already a good number of questions just waiting to be answered, such as whether we’re going to be as enamored of Dean later as we are now being one of them. It’s hard to know if mention of how he was torturing souls in hell is going to be just a one-off mention or if it will come back to haunt him eventually. With this show it’s hard to know until it’s right in your face to remind everyone of what happened and why what’s about to happen matters so much. The appearance of a few familiar faces, such as Bloody Mary and the Woman in White made the first episode even better, and facing off against John Wayne Gacy and Lizzie Borden was a match-up that has a lot of people talking. With this kind of opening it’s hard to think that the final season of the show will be anything but breathtaking since the Winchester’s are bound to be up against a host of spirits and malevolent beings that will be seeking to end them for good.
One big expectation is that the Winchester’s, if they do go out, won’t be going easily since after all they’ve been through the brothers and those around them are as determined as ever and aren’t bound to be easy targets for anyone. Already people are feeling their emotions being pulled at as it’s become evident that the Winchesters are in for a fight that’s been brewing for the past fourteen seasons, and it’s about to get ugly beyond anyone’s reckoning. When you’ve got a deity like God welcoming you to the end however you get the feeling that there’s no turning back or calling a time out, and it’s not likely that Sam and Dean would do so anyway since there’s too much to do and an ending to write before they check out for the final time. Fans are already showing a great deal of emotion as the first episode made a callback to the pilot, something that seems to get a lot of fans going and keeps them anxious for more since it’s a reminder that everything that has a beginning will most certainly have an end at some point. But with the Winchester’s it does seem as though that end is going to be something spectacular that you can’t help but think will shake the very core of reality if they have their say.
Another event to expect is that since the Woman in White and God have mucked things up royally, as Samantha Highfill of EW has alluded to, it seems the Winchester’s are going to be recapping a lot of the stuff they’ve done over the years but in a new and very profound manner since this time around it’s for keeps, as there won’t be any going back to do it again once the season is over. The fact that the Woman in White is undoing everything they’ve done up to this point is regrettable since it means that after such a long time spent putting evil spirits and ghosts in their place the Winchester brothers have to do it all again, and there are bound to be new disadvantages that even their experience won’t be able to fully negate. This is going to be the kind of fight that a lot of people will undoubtedly feel is worthy of the Supernatural brand since it’s bound to get rough, ugly, and extremely deadly in short order since there a lot of entities out there that are bound to be a little angry at the two and will be trying their best to cause as much havoc as is inhumanly possible just to make sure that the Winchester’s understand how truly angry they really are.
Throughout the years Supernatural has been one of the favored shows of many fans as Abby Robinson of DigitalSpy would no doubt agree with, and it’s been one of those that has managed to tug on the heartstrings more than once since Sam and Dean have shared their triumphs and defeats in a big way with everything they’ve been through. In this final season they’re going to be taking on the hardest fight of their lives since it would appear that they’re going to be taking on every hard and dangerous moment that they’ve been through in an attempt to make things right once again and close the book on the story that they started a while back. With the deck so horribly stacked against them it’s likely that no one’s making it out alive this time, but considering how much they tend to like those kind of odds there’s no telling until the final credits start to roll.
