Tommy Williams of GeekTyrant is saying what a lot of us have found out at this point, that GLOW is coming back for one more season, but a lot of folks want to know what might possibly happen once the final season does hit. You can imagine that with everything going on that there will be some wild and fairly accurate predictions being made, but the Netflix series won’t be coming back for the final go until around 2020 so it’s hard to say just how much might change been now and then. It’s easy to think that some of these predictions might be wide of the mark and could be what people WANT to happen but won’t necessarily be as feasible as people might think. Just for fun however, here are a few things that could possibly happen when season 4 finally comes around.
The idea of Debbie and Tex getting engaged isn’t too hard to sell since the idea of her buying the network and at the same time working out a custody schedule with Mark could help to make this a possibility. Also, some people do want to see this happen since it would push the story forward just a little bit more and offer a dynamic that’s not about to make it work all on its own, but could still add to the overall narrative that people have found enjoyable. It also feels as though Tex’s subplot might get lost in the mix and might even disappear at one point.
Arthie might fall for a man or a transgender woman, it’s hard to tell. The fact that she might begin to question the issue of her sexuality could be something that the director has fun with and decides to push for the reason of making the show just a little more interesting as well as relevant to viewers if not the time period. Transgenders in the 80s were still highly stigmatized, much more so than now, and the idea of putting this element into the show could be a way to keep the viewers up on the issues that the women are experiencing and possibly introduce the idea in a way that will make people a little more aware of the overall issue. Plus, the idea that Yolanda will dump her is something that could also help the character develop a bit more as it could change her in ways and thrust her onto a path that people don’t fully expect. Also, it will be established, finally, that Yolanda is a very toxic character and thereby is only capable of damaging others under the guise of caring about them.
Carmen might very well move to Phoenix since she’s either going to excel as a wrestler or she won’t. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of middle ground here since it does feel as though she might find the person that will change her life or will in some fundamental way find that her life is only going to get harder. In truth it doesn’t appear that Carmen has a lot of middle ground to stand on unless she wants to become a mundane and otherwise uninteresting character. What does seem possible is that she’ll perform a stint in men’s wrestling but will eventually come back to GLOW as a much better character, perhaps even a heel that people will respond to in a positive manner.
Rhonda isn’t headed for a good time since her getting pregnant doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch. In the meantime it feels as though Bash will continue to see men on the side and that their shared downward spiral will continue. There are so many different story arcs that it’s hard to predict them all, but you can bet that things are going to be shaken up in a big way when the next season hits since the show has thrived on change and making things as difficult as possible for its characters while at the same time allowing them to experience some triumphs here and there along the way. Whether they’ll end up entirely successful or at least breaking even by the end of the next season is something that’s too hard to tell at the moment, but the hope of a lot of fans is that the women that came together to create something this impressive will find some measure of happiness or at least moderate success by the time it’s all over and done with. Some might find that they have more work to do and a long way to go until they’re really happy, while others might be on top of the world by the time the show ends. Samuel Spencer of Express has his own opinions on this and he covers the idea of the show fairly well. However it happens though you can bet that the next season will be nothing short of epic to give the show a proper sendoff.
