The Five Best Paula Patton Movies of Her Career

Paula Patton

Paula Patton has taken the lead role on screen in the past but it often seems as though she’s best being a supporting character as she seems to have that capability to back up a lead and make the story that much better in her own way. She’s the kind of talent that is great when she’s up front and can be seen but is equally skilled when she’s more of a supporting character largely because she does have a presence that makes her seem like an individual that is more of a mentor or emotional support when it’s needed. Her debut actually came in the movie Hitch but she didn’t start gaining prominence until after this when she starred in Deja Vu and other movies. Like many actors she’s had her ups and downs and her great movies and flops, but she’s always done her best to make sure that she tries to enhance the efforts of those around her while doing her best to make her own part shine.

Here are her five best movies.

5. 2 Guns

Is there such a thing as a triple cross? Because if there is then this movie has got it since an undercover investigator and Navy SEAL and DEA agent find themselves in a bit of pickle when they decide to steal money that belongs to a cartel but is being used to pay off the CIA. The web just gets more intricate as the movie goes along as the superiors of both men either get shot or end up being connected in a big way to the money as loyalties are broken and alliances are forged as a matter of necessity and then survival. There were a lot of mixed reviews about this movie but it was still kind of fun.

4. Disconnect

In a big way this movie reminds me of Crash since it involves a good number of people that have the most tenuous or absolutely no connection and yet their lives are similar in a way that they’re trying to connect with other human beings no matter if it’s in a positive or controversial manner. When each one of them finds that their connection is problematic in some way the story only gets a little more complicated as the message that we, as a species, are seeking the type of connections that make us feel better about ourselves, or can possibly help us remember what it’s like to be more human towards each other, continue to unfold.

3. Deja Vu

Just reading the plot makes it obvious that sites such as Rotten Tomatoes would give this movie negative to mixed reviews since it does have an interesting idea but it’s also one that’s been used a couple of times in the past and is subject to a lot of criticism. To be fair the movie does kind of skate into science fiction in a big way when it comes to traveling back to the past, but it also at least tries to keep it grounded by providing rules and controversy that might be entirely plausible given the subject matter. It performed well when it came out but a lot of people have already forgotten about it years later.

2. Precious

Philip French of The Guardian was able to praise this movie quite a bit and whether a person likes the movie or not it’s definitely worthy of the reviews it got. The story itself is rather depressing since Precious seemingly has no way out of a life spent being abused and otherwise neglected by a mother that somehow found it in her to blame her daughter for being raped by her husband. Not only did the rape result in two different pregnancies but Precious was sent to alternative school in order to try and get her life on track. This only happens after a great deal of hardship and the courage that comes from finally moving out of her mother’s home after announcing that she will never be a part of their lives again.

1. Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol

The IMF find themselves disavowed after a bomb takes out most of the Kremlin and is attributed to their actions. Even being disavowed however they’re able to utilize hidden resources that allow them to go after the real bomber while trying to deal with issues in their own group. As you might expect this movie definitely sees a big upgrade from the past movies as the high-tech toys are more impressive and the danger level increases exponentially since climbing a glass and steel building with magnetic gloves seems like it might be a great idea on paper, but when the power to the gloves cuts out that’s a long, LONG way to fall. But hey, this is the IMF team, dangerous and difficult is their bread and butter.

She’s been a very convincing actress throughout her career thus far.
