Flip or Flop is one of those shows on HGTV that continues to have quite a following. Who would have thought that a show that has two individuals going through a home to remodel it only to see if it can actually flip into a profitable sale would become so popular? That it has. It is quite a remarkable story of the power of television and the willingness of a sizable viewing audience to put themselves into the shoes of other homeowners for an hour a week. The show and all of its spin offs have proven to be quite popular, and that is why Flip or Flop is not back for an amazing eighth season.
Season 8: A New Chapter
The new season of Flip or Flop will consist of 18 episodes. It will be the eighth season and it began on August 1st in the United States. This would be exactly one year since season seven ended, leaving many to wonder for quite some time if the show should actually return. This season will focus on properties around Southern California. The long time hosts of Christina and Tarek will be doing all of the buying, renovating, and selling of the homes that viewers have grown accustomed to tuning into the show to see.
Overcoming Personal Struggles
One of the reasons that many viewers might have thought Flip or Flop was finished is because the marriage of the hosts is actually finished. Christina and Tarek were actually married in addition to being the hosts of the show, but that would all come apart in late 2106. They were married for seven years, and the divorce became quite a public spectacle. Finally, the divorce was settled in January of 2018. In December of that same year, Christina would actually get remarried and is expecting her fourth child. Through all of that, Christina and Tarek have been able to keep their business relationship separate from the personal turmoil they were experiencing in their own marriage. The show does not appear to have suffered in the least. That is also reflected by the fact season 8 is now a reality.

The Essence of Flip or Flop
You might be wondering with Flip or Flop is even all about. To know that, you have to understand that the hosts were real estate agents before the major crash would strike the country in 2008. After this, they began to look for bargains on the market that they could buy and then flip. They did this mostly in the vicinity of Orange Country, California.
It was Tarek that would first get the idea for this show. It was in 2011 that he asked a friend to assist in him in his efforts to audition for HGTV and then send them the tape. Together, they actually produced an entire episode that detailed how a home was flipped, from beginning to end. That tape was then sent to HGTV. Needless to say, they were impressed. It was in 2012 that the couple was finally signed to what would become a weekly episode that detailed how to locate a bargain property that was in need of some renovation before it could be sold.

In this partnership, Christina would bring the design aspect of the process. She envisioned what the finished house should look like. It was Tarek who coordinated the actual renovations. Christina will design how each space in the home is to look, and she will then create a schedule that needs to be adhered to. The show is so popular because it takes the hosts through the process of locating and buying a home, most of which are owned by the bank, and then details how they renovate it and later sell it. Who knows how many viewers have become flippers themselves on the basis of just seeing this show.
