Keanu Reeves as Moon Knight Would be Our Dreams Coming True

Moon Knight Keanu Reeves

If you say the name Moon Knight there are a lot of fans that might know nothing about him since he’s not a mainstream hero and has hung out on the fringes for quite a while. But if Keanu Reeves was brought into the picture as the iconic hero you can easily guess that people would start paying attention. In a big way Moon Knight is kind of like an alternate version of Batman since they do share a few similarities, though if you thought Batman had issues, then Moon Knight has him beat eight ways to Sunday. That being the case though MK is even more disturbing than Batman since he’s the kind of hero you have to wonder about now and again considering that he’s disciplined and highly skilled, but isn’t always the kind of guy that’s going to entirely predictable. Keanu has shown, and Kevin Burwick of MovieWeb might agree, that he could take on the role of the lunar-based hero without much effort.

His origins are a little more vicious than Batman’s and a little more mystical since as Marc Spector, MK started out as a CIA operative turned mercenary who eventually started to grow disillusioned with his lifestyle since he rubbed shoulders with some of the worst people in the world. When he was left for dead in the desert he was brought an unearthed tomb, or temple, depending on who’s telling the story, and revived, as he believed, by the god Khonshu, who remade him into the vision of vengeance that would seek to help people from that point on. Eventually Marc returned to civilization and used the profits he’d amassed as a mercenary to create a new identity as Moon Knight, financing his many different tools even as he trained his body to peak levels so that he could bring vengeance to his enemies. The only trouble that he really ran into is that he created more than one alternate identity, and he fell into each one of them in order to be most effective. The trouble with this however is that he developed a serious personality disorder that began to tear at him now and again, making it difficult to keep his personalities in order.

Keanu has only been getting better throughout the course of his career and while he’s taken on many movies that are cringe-worthy in nature but not too bad when all is said and done, he’s really been blazing a trail within the last decade as he’s taken on roles that have really pushed the fact that he’s getting older, but he’s only getting better with each movie. It would seem that he’s been flirting with the Marvel universe for a while, but up until now nothing has really happened. There was a rumor that he would show up in The Eternals, but again, nothing happened on that front. But casting him as Moon Knight seems like it would be a perfect opportunity since not only has his role as John Wick been able to show that he can still get down and dirty in an action flick, but he does have a range that allows him to be dead serious and then slightly funny when he needs to be. There’s no telling just how he would play the part of Marc Spector, but it does seem fair to state that he might have no issue when it comes to playing the parts of different people. After all, MK has at least three or four different personalities that he created in order to be a more effective part of society and keep tabs on those he needed to.

If you go by Cooper Hood’s article in ScreenRant then you might realize that there have been subtle Easter eggs in two of the three Captain America movies that might have pointed to the emergence of Moon Knight, as mention of Egypt in both movies seemed to indicate that this was one of the locations that was being looked at for one reason or another. The MCU is great at doing this and at giving a hint of information that might or might not pay off, but a lot of people have been wanting and hoping for Moon Knight to show up since, no matter how unlikely it seems, he is a rather impressive hero, despite being completely human and existing at peak conditions. In many ways he is like Batman largely because he does have a great deal of money and he is a masked vigilante that goes about bringing justice to the wicked. Unlike Batman though he’s a bit unhinged and doesn’t always seem one hundred percent sane. Still, given the role, Keanu might do something kind of great with it, and thereby give the MCU yet another interesting hero that could be enjoyed, finally.
