Marrying Millions is a new show that has started up on Lifetime. Given its name, it should come as no surprise to learn that it is focused on couples from very different financial backgrounds, with one being rich and one being not so rich. As such, it is something that might interest those with a fondness for shows centered on such relationships. Here are 10 things that you may or may not have known about Marrying Millions:
1. By the Same People Behind 90 Day Fiance
The people behind Marrying Millions are not newcomers to the world of unscripted shows. For proof, look no further than the fact that they are the same people behind 90 Day Fiance, which is a very well-known show that has been broadcast on TLC for some time. Besides this, said individuals have produced other shows with similar setups as well, though none of those are as well-known.
2. Features Six Couples
In total, Marrying Millions features six couples. This makes sense because it means that the show isn’t reliant on the story of a single couple to sell the viewing experience to interested individuals. Instead, it can offer multiple stories centered on multiple couples, thus enabling it to bring it viewers even if said individuals aren’t particularly interested in any particular couple.
3. Some Couples Fit the Standard Archetype, Others Do Not
Most people should be familiar with the standard archetype for a couple with one rich partner and one not so rich partner. If not, well, suffice to say that it consists of an older man in the position of the rich partner and a younger woman in the position of the not so rich partner. There are some excellent examples of this standard archetype among the six couples. However, it seems safe to say that the people behind Marrying Millions felt that a more varied mix of couples was the better choice, as shown by the others.
4. One Couple Consists of Bill and Brianna
The couple that comes closest to the standard archetype would be Bill and Brianna. In short, Bill is the 60-year-old owner of a commercial real estate company, while Brianna is a 21-year-old ex-hostess who met him when she was still 18-years-old. The blurb that has been released suggests that the core of their story will be focused on Bill’s interest in bringing Brianna into his world, which is counter-balanced by his concern that she might not be ready for such a transition.
5. One Couple Consists of Katie and Kolton
Moving on, there is another couple that consists of the 37-year-old Katie and the 23-year-old Kolton. Katie is the ex-wife of professional baseball player, which resulted in her becoming a millionaire in her own right. Meanwhile, Kolton is an aspiring hip-hop artist with a strong emphasis on the aspiring. The two met because Kolton is one of the friends of Katie’s daughter, so it should come as no surprise to learn that there is a fair amount of concern from their friends and family members.
6. One Couple Consists of Gentille and Brian
Another couple consists of Gentille and Brian. Gentille is a real estate investor who specializes in extravagant homes, whose efforts have been so successful that she enjoys the same kind of lifestyle as her clients. In contrast, Brian is a construction contractor who lives from paycheck to paycheck but nonetheless managed to charm Gentille when he worked on a job for her. With that said, the real cause for concern is that the blurb suggests that Gentille knows very little about Brian, so much so that she doesn’t actually know where he lives.
7. One Couple Consists of Drew and Rosie
Drew is the owner of a company that does construction as well as landscaping, while Rosie is a recent college graduate. Curiously, Rosie has stated that her family would be even more against their relationship if they knew how the two met with one another, so it seems safe to say that this is something that will come up over the course of the show for the sake of maximum drama.
8. One Couple Consists of Shawn and Kate
Shawn is a 29-year-old entrepreneur who managed to make his fortune in the tech industry, with the result that he now has his sights set on other endeavors. Meanwhile, Kate is a 33-year-old who came from simpler circumstances. It is interesting to note that these two are not newcomers to the world of unscripted shows, seeing as how they were on Make Up or Break Up while Shawn has been on even more shows before that.
9. One Couple Consists of Sean and Megan
Sean is the heir to a publishing company, while Megan is a model. Apparently, the two met when Megan came in to apply for a job at Sean’s company before leaving when Sean winded up being 15 minutes late. Later on, Sean found her on social media, which was followed by the two getting into a long-term relationship. The two already have a son with one another, so their part on Marrying Millions will be focused on whether they are ready for marriage.
10. Broadcast on Wednesdays
Marrying Millions has already started up on Wednesdays on Lifetime. As a result, interested individuals might want to start tuning in sooner rather than later.
