General Hospital fans get to see some people get married and last a long time — think Sonny and Carly at this point. But, not everyone gets to see the happiness that they have for one another. They don’t always get to last happily ever after, and some couples don’t even get to see happily right now. Some marriages simply don’t last long enough for them to find any happiness at all, which makes us want to take a look at the shortest marriages of Port Charles history. Let’s check out the five shortest — which we know can change anytime, to be quite honest.
Lily and Sonny — 2 weeks
In fact, we are a little bit shocked to hear that the shortest marriage around Port Charles lasted a solid two weeks. There seems to be something that feels almost long about that, and we are not sure we should feel that way. But, we do know that they were married, and then she died two weeks later. She was killed in a tragic situation, but we have to include their marriage as one of the shorter ones in an effort to make sure we all know that this is how it went down.
Brenda and Jason — 2 months
They didn’t last long, either. They were married because of something random, but they did not really love one another. They were not that kind of couple, but they did fall into a situation in which Jason was set to testify against her in a court of law, and they had to do this. They had to get married so that he could avoid the testimony he was being asked to make. Of course, this marriage did not last because it was not a real one. They were quickly annulled after a mere two months thanks to the fact they never consummated it because it was fake.
Carly and Sonny — 4 months
They are going to spend some time being married, unmarried, kind of married, not really married, and on the brink of divorce the rest of their lives, we imagine. But, they also get to fall into a very short marriage situation that doesn’t make much sense to us. They were married one time for approximately four months. It was not their first time being married. It was their third, but they were being asked to testify against one another and they could not do that. We know that this is a situation that many people face around here, but it was one that he could not afford to let go. No one was shocked, at the time, that it did not work out when they got married the third time.
Tracy and Anthony — 5 months
She did not want to be married to him, so this five months probably felt like a lifetime. She was a woman who was meant to be with someone else. That someone else, to be precise, was Luke in her eyes. She was head over heels for Luke, but Anthony kidnapped her and forced her to get married. She refused to sleep with him, though, so it wasn’t a real marriage. Fortunately, for her, someone killed him a few months into their marriage, and she was able to annul that and move on with her life. She was happier after he was dead, and she was even happier that someone else did it and she did not have to.
Hayden and Nikolas — 5 months
We aren’t sure why they even got married, but they did. They were not great together. But, they did have some big chemistry. They decided that they would sleep together, and that worked for them. That was all that worked for them, however. They had no marital chemistry, but they did have a trip to Vegas that left them married and trying to figure things out. They didn’t really have much going for them, and they didn’t have much to do with one another. Thankfully, for her, that’s when Valentin showed up and shot Nikolas. She was no longer married after five months, and that made her a happy girl. However, she was not happy that he was killed, of course.
