These days a lot of rumor and gossip goes running around before the final decisions are made, but considering the fact that Daisy Ridley is going to be done with Star Wars when The Rise of Skywalker is over and done with, it would seem fair to state that someone of her caliber should go on to become another character that people happen to like. The artistic rendering that Jeremy Dick from MovieWeb and many others have used to great extent at this point is great in a big way, but honestly the eyes make her look as though she belongs on the set of Underworld as a hybrid lycan/vampire. Apart from that however it looks great and could hopeful spark enough interest in Hollywood to put something into motion. The question of whether or not it would link up with any of the other movies in the DCEU however is kind of up in the air since that seems to be the trend that’s coming all too quickly.
There’s a Joker movie that’s not going to connect to the DCEU, a Batman movie coming in 2020 that won’t connect in any obvious way to the DCEU as it stands now, and two standalone superhero movies that have done very well but at the same time don’t really hook up with each other since they’re worlds apart, in a sense. As of right now the only way this movie seems like it could be any good, apart from Ridley being a proven actress and being able to take on her roles without any hassle, would be to somehow connect it to the same universe that Wonder Woman and Aquaman currently belong to. It almost feels that if this movie gets attached to the current Batman that’s going to starring Robert Pattinson it’s going to be somehow tainted by the idea that it might flop. Plus, if it was attached to the DCEU it could possibly act as another shining beacon to help the universe finally drag itself out of the Snyder-infused shadows that so much of the DCEU has been mired in for so long.
If you didn’t know already then CinemaBlend writer Corey Chichizola has an article you might need to read concerning the arrival of Batgirl and another movie that is slated to come out first, Birds of Prey. This movie will feature a large number of female characters including Batgirl, so if Ridley is going to show up as the heroine in black then this would hopefully be the first time, with Batgirl coming hard on its heels. Joss Whedon was slated to work on Batgirl at first but he bowed out at one point, leaving the future of the movie in question until another screenwriter, Christina Hodson, came along and decided to take a shot at it. Given that she’s been writing Birds of Prey it might be that she has unique take on it that could introduce Batgirl in a very profound and meaningful way that would be agreeable to fans and get them on board with however she wants to present the heroine. So far we haven’t seen Batgirl much outside of the animated features and the one we were given in Batman and Robin was, well, pretty lackluster and suffered horribly from the simple fact that she was attached to a movie that many people feel is one of the worst in the franchise.
Christian Bone from We Got This Covered doesn’t even mention Ridley in the list of those who could play the heroine, which might mean that they let a little something slip or made the list before Ridley was ever considered. But in truth some of the actresses mentioned might be a good idea, while others are enough make a person raise an eyebrow and wonder what they’re thinking. Of course it’s all a matter of opinion and what some folks see in certain actors others might fail to notice. But one reason why Ridley might be perfect for this role is that she’s got the right level of attitude that could place her as Barbara Gordon, a young woman that’s incredibly tough but not so gruff and demanding in her demeanor as the rest of her Bat-family. Of course one could argue that many other women have this same quality, but Daisy is an actress that brings a definite balance between being sarcastic and filled with attitude and the need to remain empathetic and kind to those that deserve it. In other words she’s able to bring forth a very balanced character that can get angry but likes to reason through certain situations instead of just bashing her way through them. When it comes right down to it this is what needs to happen when it comes to making the Batgirl movie. Ridley or no one.Wonder Woman
