Emmett J. Scanlan is the guy that you look for when you need someone that can play a diverse but aggressive character since he’s already done plenty of this in his career. This kind of ability isn’t exactly new or unique but it does tend to be different with each character that practices it, and he’s created his own brand of aggression on screen that has become something that’s both scary to watch and kind of impressive at the same time. While you might not know much about him, unless you’ve watched the shows and movies he’s been in over the years, it’s evident that he might still be on his way up and gaining ground as he takes on one role after another. He’s known by enough people to state that he’s certifiably famous, though at this point there are so many people that fit this category that in order to move forward one has to really push their limits.
Here are a few things you might not have known about Emmett.
10. He’s won several awards.
Emmett has been noticed by enough people, and by those that are vital to his continued progress, so it’s safe to say that he’s going to stick around for a while. The hope though is that while he does keep winning awards that it won’t go to his head and he’ll keep doing what he loves to do.
9. In case you were wondering, he was selected to play the DC bounty hunter, Lobo.
Kylie Hemmert of SuperHeroHype is just one of the many people that have taken note of Emmett’s appearance as Lobo, the interstellar mercenary that came in as the big bad for season 2 of Krypton. While the comic version of this character is absolutely nuts it’s been surmised that Emmett has embraced this level of crazy and done it at least some justice.
8. He did have a small part in Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 1.
Emmett played the part of a riot guard so it was more of a bit part really, but being able to put this on your resume is still pretty cool since it grants just a bit more notice to those that have been on such big projects. Plus, it does qualify him as one of the many that have crossed over from Marvel to DC and vice versa.
7. Emmett just reached his 40s.
By the time a person hits this age it really seems as though they need to be established in their career or at least ride it out for a while until they can find a suitable career to switch over to. So far it would seem that Emmett is where he belongs as he appears to be thriving.
6. He’s active enough on social media.
There aren’t a lot of followers on his account but there are enough to think that people are warming up to him and have at least stuck around for a while. The numbers on social media don’t always mean as much, but in truth it’s what they mean to the person on the account that matters most.
5. He and his wife met on the show they were working on.
According to Alice Broster of Bustle the two of them were working on the show Hollyoaks when they met and they apparently hit it off. Emmett came into the relationship with a daughter from a previous relationship, but it would seem that his daughter took to her new stepmother quite well and their family is a tightly knit bunch.
4. Emmett has been around the business for a while.
Some people might have thought that he was a newbie when he showed up as Lobo but in truth he’s been around for well over a decade and is actually coming up on his second decade in the business, so he knows the ins and outs of the job.
3. It’s not really certain what his net worth is.
There is a rough estimate but it doesn’t seem accurate enough to really go with. At this point in his career one would think that he would have amassed an impressive net worth, or at least something that seemed pretty comfortable.
2. He has no qualms about sharing his family life with the world.
Emmett actually seems pretty comfortable in sharing his life and his family with the world and the fans since he’s posting on Instagram and Twitter fairly often, making it known just what he’s up to and what’s been going on in his career. Some folks don’t mind all the attention, others tend to stay more closed off.
1. It seems that he spends a lot of time in the gym.
Given that he’s on screen quite often and playing characters that need to be in shape this isn’t much of a surprise, plus being in shape never hurts.
It might be time to turn on Krypton and catch his impression of the cigar-smoking mercenary.
