The woman once known as Sabrina the Teenage Witch has definitely grown up throughout the years, as many teenagers and younger kids can attest to. Watching her while growing up a lot of kids took inspiration and enjoyment from her show and found it to be one of the more addictive programs out there. As she got older however she did get into doing more adult things such as posing for Maxim, starring in teenage flicks, and even starring in an episode Law & Order: SVU. Melissa Joan Hart has done quite a bit with her life and has proven to be a rather interesting person throughout much of it, showing people that she’s more than just a one-trick pony over and over as she’s done plenty off camera as well as on. It’s kind of hard to see everyone we idolized getting older, but then it reminds us that we are too.
Here are a few things about Melissa you might not have known.
10. She had a small part in Crocodile Dundee but it was cut from the film.
It’s not really known what the scene or part was but it would seem that it might have been cut due to time constraints or possibly because it just didn’t fit as well into the main part of the movie. Things like this do happen pretty often.
9. She has a lazy eyelid that doesn’t allow her right eye to open as wide as her left.
Sometimes you really have to look to see it, but at other times it’s fairly obvious. So far in her career this doesn’t seem to have been a detriment at all since she’s worked with it and made her career despite the fact that it can be seen. It’s never seemed to slow her down in the past.
8. Melissa was born without the teeth on either side of her front teeth.
This is kind of an odd thing to happen to be honest but it was fixed in the early 90s and now no one would ever know unless they were being told. One has to wonder just what would make such a thing like this happen though.
7. She’s a big fan of Shirley Temple and Audrey Hepburn.
Melissa collects memorabilia that has to do with both actresses and is enamored of both. You can’t hardly blame her since both are icons within their own time and were amazing when their careers were at their peak.
6. Melissa auditioned for a role in Scream.
Accounts vary as to whether she auditioned for the part or it was offered to her, but the point is that she didn’t get it and that it went to Neve Campbell. In case you were wondering, no, she did not show up in a cameo, as that would have been credited.
5. She turned down roles in both I Know What You Did Last Summer and Urban Legend.
Considering the lack of box office success that each film experienced this was probably a good idea since as cult classics they might be fine, maybe, but overall they were humongous flops that somehow spawned sequels that people kept going to see.
4. Melissa owns her own candy store.
Whether she still owns it or not to this date is unknown but the Sweethart was hers and if it still is then there’s one more bit of proof that she’s been doing something just as productive off camera during her spare time.
3. She caught a great deal of hell for posing for Maxim.
There’s a very sound reason for this. She was playing Sabrina the Teenage Witch at this point, and since Sabrina belongs to Archie comics you can imagine that they’re very protective of their wholesome name and image. Had Melissa been posing under her own name they wouldn’t have minded a bit, but since she was posing under the guise of Sabrina the company had a bit of a fit and had to remind her of their need to project a wholesome image.
2. She’s a big fan of the WWE.
She watches the show and has had guest stars from the WWE on Sabrina the Teenage Witch in the past. In fact this was, for a while, a great way to promote some wrestlers and get some added viewers hooked on the show. The people in charge of such things do get it right at times.
1. Melissa has stated that she would be open to posing for Playboy.
She’s stated that she would gladly go topless, but couldn’t be asked to do anything else since she’s not about to have a camera on her nether regions. Plus, if her mom had a problem with it then she would have to say no. To be honest, there are a lot of tasteful magazines that only do topless shots and are rather professional about it.
