There are many things that many upon many people call Post Malone and have since he started beginning his rather controversial statements, but one thing that he can’t be called is unsuccessful. The guy has spent more on takeout food than many people make in a year and there are reasons why he’s so rich even if they happen to be mired in rumors and gossip that is hardly ever complimentary to the man. In many ways his looks and his words, as heard in interviews and across the Twitterverse, are often a little hard to stomach since he doesn’t seem to have much of a filter between his brain and his mouth. But the undeniable fact is that he’s grown immensely popular in just a few years, selling millions of albums and reaping the benefits as he’s collected a few awards as well. How this happens is anyone’s guess considering how he became famous, but it’s a reality that people have no choice but to accept.
Here are a few of his songs as used in TV and movies.
5. Post Malone – Too Young
It’s too easy to fall into the trap of hating someone just because of what they look like or what they say. Post unfortunately makes it even easier when he opens his mouth and starts to either defend himself or criticize those that want to come after him for one reason or another. That he has some talent isn’t hard to admit, and that people have decided that he’s worth spending their hard-earned money on isn’t either, but one thing about the guy is that he seems a bit caustic at times and hard to take. Words slide off of shoulders pretty easily, but wondering just how he’s managed to be this successful when he kind of does the same thing that so many before him have done while making it seem as though he’s being innovative is kind of hard to fathom.
4. Madden NFL 19 – Ball For Me
Obviously from the picture you can see this is a meme but being as it was one of the more memorable moments of Superbowl 52 it couldn’t be resisted. Post isn’t the first famous artist to be placed on the NFL Madden games and he won’t be the last since the games are becoming increasingly popular no matter the sentiments against the NFL that have risen in the past couple of years. This photo is probably one that Tom Brady would like to see disappear since it shows a failed play that would have had him receiving a pass and then making his way through a lot of empty green towards a touchdown. But hey, he was still dealing with an injury to his hand, right?
3. Hilarity for Charity – Return of the Mack
I’ve done it before and it would be unfair not to do it again since a lot of artists have taken songs that were created in years prior and put their own spin on them. Return of the Mack was originally put out by Mark Morrison in 1996 and was a big hit during that time. Since then it’s still been one of the favorite songs to pull up when one is feeling nostalgic about the 90s. To think that Post pulled it up out of respect would be nice, but given the fact that he’s been called a ‘culture vulture’, something he vehemently denies, it’s a little too easy to think that he just wanted to pawn something off in his own way. Of course it could be an homage so once again it’s better to take a neutral stance.
2. xXx: Return of Xander Cage – Burning Man
No one stays dead in movies, didn’t you know? Well, they don’t stay that way unless there’s just no other direction to go with them. Xander Cage was after all the man that started off the whole XXX franchise and it seemed right to bring him back and, on top of that, to bring in someone that was considered to be pretty popular in Donnie Yen. The rest of the crew were pretty well known as well since they’d been seen in one movie or another within the last several years and had very promising careers. The movie wasn’t quite as great as the first one but it did have a lot of intense moments that were fun to watch.
1. Spider-Man: Into the Spider – Verse-Sunflower
Just think, there used to be a time when there was only one version of any given superhero, and you didn’t have to think about alternate universes. Not here, and not now. There are so many people involved in the Spider-Man family at this point that it’s becoming hard to remember them all. But Miles Morales seems to be the guy in front at the moment when it comes to taking over the face of the franchise, and it might be interesting to see such a thing happen.
As for Post Malone, well, you either like him or you don’t, ’nuff said.
