Young and the Restless fans know Kate Linder well. Well, we know Esther Valentine well. She’s been on the show since 1982, which makes her one of the longest-running characters to date. She’s not taken any significant amount of time off work, she’s not made us wonder if she’s leaving and never coming back, and she’s just been one of those familiar faces we just love and can’t get enough of for more than 36 years now. But we don’t know much about Kate Linder the actress. We kind of think it might be time to get to know her and what she’s like as a person. She seems to be the kind of woman we all know and love, and that works for us, and it’s time to get to know her a little better.
1. She’s A California Girl
Kate Linder was born on November 2, 1947 in Pasadena. She’s born and raised in California, and she’s proud of that. We don’t think, to our knowledge, that she’s lived anywhere else other than Cali for any length of time. However, that might not be entirely true in many situations.
2. She’s Got A Degree
She is a woman who knows what she wants in life, and she’s always done precisely what she wants. When she graduated from high school, she made the decision to go to college. She obtain a degree from San Francisco State University. She has a BA in theatre arts.
3. She’s A Flight Attendant
When she was done with college, she wanted to be a flight attendant. She did the schooling, got the training, and she went to work for Transamerica Airlines, where she worked for many years. She loves her work as a flight attendant so much she still works for United Airlines.
4. She’s A Hugely Charitable Woman
She is hugely involved in many charitable organizations. She’s heavily involved in work with the ALS Association, with TV Cares, ATAS’s AIDS Foundation, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and even the March of Dimes. She believes in many causes, and she supports them publicly.
5. She Has A Star
She’s been given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She got it around the same time that Susan Lucci and other soap stars got theirs. It’s quite an accomplishment.
6. She’s A Widow
She was married for many years, but she’s a widow now. Her husband, Ronald, passed away in 2017. They did not spend much time in the public eye during their marriage, but that does seem to work for them.
7. Her Husband Was A Doctor
Her husband was a busy man working as a doctor. Dr. Ronald L. Linder. He was someone who had a lot of passion for what he did, just like his wife had for what she did. She worked in daytime television, the flight attendant world, and in all her charities.
8. She Has No Biological Children
Kate Linder and her husband share no children. She is not a biological mother, but she does have three stepchildren with whom she is close. They all came from her husband’s first marriage. She has two stepsons and a stepdaughter. Jay, Jon, and Karyn, and she spends time with them.
9. She’s A Governor
There are two Daytime Governors at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and she is one of them. That is a big job, and it’s one that she takes very seriously. She helps present the Emmys, and she is a very important person in the world of Hollywood. She does good work, and she has a lot of fans because of what she does and how well she does it.
10. She Loves Her Work
Kate Linder did not hit it big in the world of daytime television more than 36 years ago and give up the other things she loves. She continues to work in daytime television as well as working as a flight attendant, and as well as working as someone who continuously gives back to the world. She is nothing short of astonishing. We love her, and we love all she does for the world. She’s someone we admire so much for her passion. She does what she loves, and we love that.
