Our Favorite General Hospital Wedding Moments

General Hospital fans are not immune to love, even though it feels as if so many of them are against good, true love. There might be some ups and downs in the love that the characters share, and many of them never make it. However, that doesn’t change the fact that some weddings are a little more memorable than others. We’re sharing a few of our favorite weddings from over the years, and some of them might just surprise you when you get into them.

Sonny and Brenda

Remember when the show was all about Sonny and Brenda and their love for one another? He was a mobster, she was a pretty girl who should have gone the other way, and they were happily ever after with one another all the time? In between break-ups, miscommunications, and all that, of course? Their weddings sometimes didn’t happen. One of the most memorable wedding moments was that time right before their wedding when he decided he couldn’t go through with it. He loved her, wanted to be with her, and didn’t want to leave her before their wedding, but he felt he had no choice. Being with her meant she would never be safe in the world, as he is a big-time mobster and all that. So he left her. She was crushed, and our hearts broke. But, the did end up getting their happily ever after (for a minute) back in 2011 when they finally made it down the aisle. It was two decades after they first fell in love, but whatever.

Luke and Laura

It probably goes without saying that this is the single most memorable moment in the history of the show. It’s the moment when everyone was watching on television as these two wed. In fact, it’s the highest rated moment in daytime television history. These two had one of the most beautiful weddings, one of the most iconic love stories, and one of the best moments in television history. Their wedding was beautiful. It was flawless. It’s probably like that because it’s so hard to get through a daytime wedding anymore without someone dying, something happening, and someone doing something horrible to someone else. These two, however, simply got married and had the most perfect and most beautiful day. It was special. And the phrase Luke and Laura is basically one of the most famous in the world.

Robin and Stone

They might not have had a wedding or gotten married, but we have to add them into this topic. They are one of the most iconic couples to ever come out of this show for such a good reason. He was a bad kid from the wrong side of the streets — so Robin’s uncle told her. She was not permitted to date him, but she fell for him regardless. She was just a teenager, and he was barely an adult. They fell in love, dated, and then he learned that he’d been HIV positive, and that it had developed into AIDS because he didn’t know he was positive and left his condition untreated. He became very ill, and it was one of the most devastating moments in the history of the show when Robin learned she, too, is HIV positive. It was soul crushing, but it was nothing compared to what was going to happen.

It turns out Stone would not live. The young man would die at the age of 19 as a result of his poor health, with Robin standing by his side every single day of their relationship. She loved him. He loved her. She could have changed him. She was a smart young woman with a bright future ahead of her, and she could have managed to save him had he lived. There might not be a wedding here, but there is a love story so devastating and heartbreaking, and it’s one of those things that makes people really feel. There was no coming back from this one, and it was obvious.
