If you’re looking to watch Stephen Universe online look no further than Hulu. This is where you can watch one episode after another with minimal commercial interruptions so that you can either get into the show finally or catch up on episodes you might have missed. As a TV show Stephen Universe is intriguing since it’s the first cartoon show written by a woman for Cartoon Network. But there other reasons it’s so much fun, including the fact that the cast is primarily female and the one odd person out among them is the half-human male, Stephen. While his mother was one of the Gems that rebelled against their homeworld when their race attempted to incubate earth.
Apparently the Gems and their society, which is millions upon millions of years old, meant to take over earth, but Stephen’s mom, Rose Quartz, decided to lead a rebellion against those that wanted to take over the world and was successful. However the homeworld has come back at this point and is once again intent on making earth their own. It’s up to Stephen and the other Gems to stop them and to make sure that earth is saved from being overrun, a task that is made harder by the fact that the Gems are rather tough individuals, and there are still a lot of them out there. As cartoons go it’s not too bad, it’s just something else to get used to if one decides to watch it. There are elements and parts of the show that not everyone can agree with but then again this is the Cartoon Network, not the Disney Channel. Things that might not slip by the House of Mouse are usually permitted on CN. Different rules for different houses and all that.
There’s nothing too terribly bad in the cartoon, at least nothing worse than what’s been seen in the past when it comes to toons. If you really think about it some of the cartoons that kids watch today are rather tame in comparison to some of the stuff that came along in the 80’s and 90’s, and even well before then. There was a time when racism in cartoons wasn’t given much thought and the content was ignored for the story and the effects that were given so that kids could laugh and enjoy themselves. Stephen Universe isn’t so bad that you’d have to worry about kids of different races asking just why some of the characters are depicted the way they are. At least in theory that seems to be true.
Right now apart from downloading every episode it seems that Hulu would be the one place that you could go to watch Stephen Universe nonstop. Each platform and network has their own deals that are struck with certain channels and networks and this one happens to have come between CN and Hulu, so it’s not likely that you’re going to find it too many other places online. After all, in the world of the streaming giants it’s well known that they tend to keep a tight rein on what they think is theirs.
