From American Idol runner up to country music’s newest female vocalist of the year–Lauren Alaina has certainly found her success. The young singer was recently given the honor at the 53rd annual Academy of Country Music Awards, and she couldn’t be any more proud of her accomplishments. In a recent interview with Billboard’s Kevan Kenney, Alaina was nothing short of ecstatic as she tells Kenney how much the award meant to her.
Alaina was given her award by fellow country artist Jon Pardi. Alaina has known Pardi for a while now. The two met at a radio tour some time ago, and Alaina stated how Pardi has been working so hard for a long time. Pardi won the award for best new male vocalist last year, and Alaina couldn’t have been any more proud of her friend. They ultimately followed the same road, as Alaina has been working so hard in the last year with the release of her sophomore album, Road Less Traveled. Some of her hits from that album includes Doin’ Fine, Pretty, Same Day Different Bottle, and My Kinda People among a few others. The album was well received, and she spent the good part of 2017 on tour.
Eventually, that road of hard work her friend Pardi was on took her down the same path of success as well. Alaina was more than grateful that she had the opportunity to receive the award from the hands of her friend. She even got to introduce her mom to Pardi; it’s almost a family affair.
It’s a breath of fresh air for Alaina, who’s finally getting the highest recognitions for her talents. Alaina has been singing since she was only 3 years old. She sang in churches and kids’ choirs and family gatherings of course. By the time she was eight, Alaina entered her first singing competition and won. It became clear then that young Alaina might have a future in singing. She performed at festivals until she was 12, when she took the trip to Orlando to compete and win the American Model and Talent Competition. Alaina impressively beat out 1,500 kids that times, and before anyone knew it, she was headed to Nashville to start her performing career. She was only 12.
As impressive as all of that may sound, it was not enough for Alaina. She auditioned for the 10th season of American Idol in 2011 when she was only 17. She was instantly a favorite among the judges and fans as well. She made it to the finale only to lose to Scotty McCreery in the end. Many people already saw Alaina as a winner by that point though, and Alaina couldn’t have asked for anything better than to have had the chance to sing with her favorite idol of all time, Carrie Underwood.
The future is bright for this year’s best new female country artist. We’re looking forward to her next album, and we’re sure it’ll be better than anything she’s ever done before. If there’s one thing that Alaina does best, it’s to surpass her own personal successes.
