A lot of folks might have to look up Elecman to really remember who he was, but he was a robot from the Mega Man game that was one of Dr. Light’s original industrial robots that was meant to control the village of nuclear power plants. The banjo version of his theme song is kind of cool and it seems to offer a little more verve to the whole feel of it. You’ve got to remember that back when this game first came out the synthesized themes started sounding a lot alike after a while, so it’s nice to hear something like this every now and then just to spice up those old memories. Elecman was one of the bosses a lot of players didn’t like playing against initially. He’s kind of a vain character to be honest and thinks very highly of himself, but once he was taken control of by Dr. Wiley he became even worse and as a Boss character could be kind of tricky if one didn’t know how to take him on. Of course it’s kind of funny to think that there was a way to take him out without incurring any damage or doing any real damage to him in turn.
You could take him out if he lifted his arms and you timed the shot just right, hitting him up under the arms and taking him out of the fight. Timing it just right was kind of difficult though since he wasn’t a character that liked to sit still and give you the best target. Trying to avoid his Thunder Beam, which could take Mega Man’s HP down by at least a third, was usually the top priority of many players. But he was also especially vulnerable to the Rolling Cutter attack, as it could take him out in three hits. Anything else and you’d be in for a long haul to the finish. As one of the robot Bosses he was kind of tough to beat on the first go around since you didn’t really know what to expect.
Mega Man was a fun game when it first came out and after a while it was still pretty fun. It was with the advent of the handheld systems and the 3D gameplay that things started getting a little nuts. Like a lot of games characters were added, characters were taken away, and the game itself kind of got overhauled a time or two as though to say it wasn’t good enough as it was and needed some upgrading. Granted, it’s always good to upgrade a game that people enjoy so that it can wander on into the modern times, but with Mega Man the quality of the game started going south and eventually it became something that those who were nostalgic for the game enjoyed more than anything. Listening to the banjo version of this theme brings back a lot of good memories though of playing the game and just having fun with, and not having to keep up with every little switch that comes along.
