David Soren has had quite a career thus far and it doesn’t seem like it could be slowing down anytime soon. There’s a good reason for it, and it’s because he’s proven that he’s worth keeping on since he’s been one of the reasons why DreamWorks has been doing so well these last many years. He’s been one cog in the machine for a while but he’s also stepped up and shown that he can be a leader as well when he needs to be.
All it takes is vision and determination sometimes, and a good deal of hard work.
5. He directed Turbo.
I’ll fully admit that when I saw a cartoon coming out about a racing snail that was supercharged and able to compete in the Indianapolis 500 I was bit skeptical. But when I watched this film it was so well done and the film was so well rendered that it was very enjoyable. As the director Soren took this movie in a direction that a lot of people didn’t think it would be able to go, even if the star was a little unconventional.
4. He worked on the Captain Underpants movie.
I’ll admit I haven’t seen the film yet but some people seem to be pretty jazzed up about it. The cartoon looks a little silly but I get the feeling that this is the point of it. In today’s cinema kids are usually entertained by stuff that doesn’t make a lot of sense and carries a moral hidden within that they can look up to when it’s all said and done. This movie does deliver on that as far as I’ve seen.
3. He created a short film for his final project in college.
The film was titled Mr. Lucky and it managed to get him the kind of attention that many people looking to make movies really want. It was even accepted into competition for an Academy Award in 1997 it was considered to be so good. From that point on I think it was obvious that Soren was going to be a big name in the movie industry later on.
2. He’s a storyboard artist at Dreamwork Studio.
He’s worked on movies like Shrek, Chicken Run, and Over the Hedge. Aside from Shrek the other movies he’s worked on haven’t gotten a whole lot of attention but they’ve been stepping stones to something bigger and better as his career has continued to expand. Soren has managed to come up with more and more ideas that have allowed him to keep his success moving forward up until now and there’s not a lot of reason why he shouldn’t be just as successful later on.
1. He was born in Canada.
Soren was born and raised in Canada but now lives in California. It seems like a lot of talented folks come from Canada in terms of the film industry. Maybe it’s just a coincidence but there seem to be a big number of folks from north of the border that excel in one or more facets of film.
The folks behind the scenes are just as important as the ones you see onscreen.
