Graham Norton, an Irish television personality and radio presenter has become extremely popular in the United Kingdom. His career got its start back in 1992, and since this time, he has achieved a large amount of success. He even attempted to make it “across the pond” with a show in the United States called “Would You Rather…?” This show was a panel game that featured comedians and celebrities from America who were asked a series of questions that started with “Would you rather…?”
It was originally aired on BBC America in December of 2011, but only lasted for a single season. This one season was made up of 13 episodes. At the conclusion of the season in February of 2012, there wasn’t any suggestions for the show to return to TV screens in the US or for a return of Braham Norton. Even though the show received positive reviews, the public opinion about it wasn’t stellar. However, now Norton is trying to make a comeback in the U.S., with his talk show airing on BBC America.
Some of the reasons it is past time to bring Norton back to American soil can be found here.
His Amazing Personality
Not considering the past experiences of hosting shows in the U.S., Graham Norton has a great personality that is appealing to audiences in both the U.S. and the U.K. If the show is done properly, then the audience in America is going to love the amazing sense of humor and bubbly personality that this Irish TV presenter has.
He Has Quite a Bit of Prior Experience Interviewing Celebrities from America
On Norton’s show, which is aired in the UK, he is seen interviewing American celebrities all the time. As a result, he is fully aware of the TV and film industry in the US and understands the perception from the public of each of the celebrities that he is seen interviewing. Also, by conducting these interviews he has gained quite a bit of experience that will be beneficial when he conducts interviews in front of an American-based audience.
He Understands What Won’t Work in the U.S.
When it comes to life, failure isn’t always the worst thing that can happen. In some cases, it gives individuals an opportunity to reflect on what they did or what went wrong and how they can make improvements in the future. This is definitely the case of Norton’s show that didn’t have great reception from the U.S. audience. Not that enough time has passed, he and his producers have been able to see what they did wrong and what they need to change to have a higher chance of success.
The fact is, it is a different time than when Norton first aired in the U.S. As a result, it is time for him to come back and see if modern audiences appreciate what he can do. Chances are this is going to be a show you want to tune into.
