Five Things You Didn’t Know About Garrison Keillor

And, the steam train keeps on chugging, as allegations of sexual misconduct and sexual assault continue to derail the careers of men in some very high places. One of the latest celebrities to bite the sexual-misconduct bullet is radio personality Carrison Keiller. Toward the end of 2017, Keillor was fired after allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced. At the time, all of the details were not available; however, the victim has been more forthcoming and new details have emerged in recent days and weeks. While you have probably heard or read the name recently, it is likely that much of who Garrison Keillor remains unknown to you. Here are five facts that will help you gain better insight into the life of Garrison Keillor.

1. Keillor Never Mentions His Name During a Broadcast

As a person who has done many radio shows and television broadcasts, I find it impressive that Keillor has never mentioned his name during the broadcast of one of his shows. Normally, the way that most shows start is by the host introducing themselves by name. According to Keillor’s spokesperson at Prairie Home Productions, this has been something that few are aware of, but it is clear that Keillor purposefully goes out of his way to avoid mentioning his name on broadcasts of his show.

2. He Was Once Considered a Sex Symbol

It may be hard to believe viewing photos of Keillor, but according to reliable sources, he was once considered to be a sex symbol. In 1985, he actually appeared on the cover of Time magazine – a cover image that was attached to an interior story that referred to Keillor as a national phenomenon. The following year, he was actually named as one the top-10 sexiest men in the United States by Playgirl Magazine. It was obviously an odd year for some reason because Donald Trump also made that list.

3. He Once Had a Short Run on the Disney Channel

During the mid-1980s, Keillor made the decision to step away from the world of radio and he subsequently announced his retirement. During that time, the Disney Channel decided to run some of his pre-recorded shows on its network, which lastest for about four to five months. It did not last long because Keillor decided that he did not like retirement and returned to claim his show through Prairie Home Productions.

4. The Very First Show Only Cost One Dollar

Wow, how times have changed. Sources close to the radio and television personality reveal that it only cost $1.00 to get a seat in the audience of the first broadcast of Keillor’s show. Well, his growth in popularity, coupled with the evolution of the industry changed all of that over time. It is not clear what the cost per ticket was at the time of Keillor’s firing, but I am almost certain that it was more than $1.00.

5. Sarrah Jessica Parker Is a Huge Fan

I am not sure how she feels about Keillor now, but Sarah Jessica Parker, of Sex in the City fame, has admitted that she is a long-time fan of Keillor. She has actually been a guest on his show on more than one occasion. The truth is Keillor has never had a problem getting stars to stop by his show, including the likes of Jack Lemmon, James Earl Jones, Nick Lowe, Meryl Streep and more.
