Governors Ball Has a Moster Lineup This Year

This year’s Governors Ball Festival is set to be epic. Festival promoters, Founders Entertainment, have announced a stellar line-up for the 3 day festival on Randall’s Island Park. The organizers released the festival roster and it is chock full of not to be missed acts including must see breakout artists of 2018 and some incredible come back shows. The festival will be held in the first weekend in June and already fans are rushing to get their hands on tickets.

Headliners for the festival are the inimitable Eminem, Jack White, Travis Scott and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. This marks a major and hotly anticipated comeback from legendary rapper Eminem in support of his electrifying new album Revival, his first in four years. This is Jack White’s first confirmed live performance since 2015. Crowds will also be delighted to hear that the celebrated duo, N.E.R.D.S are set to stage their return in Randall Island Park, their first time back performing in New York in almost 8 years. Khalid, who was nominated five times for Grammy Awards is also on the line up. Also joining the bill is Halsey who has been described as a pop maverick and the voice of her generation.

The monster line-up also features other notable and hotly anticipated acts including CHVRCHES, Post Malone, Dirty Projectors, Cut Copy, Wolf Alice Lil Uzi Vert, Kelela, Sylvan Esso and Japandroids. Music fans are also keenly anticipating the worldwide debut at Governors Ball of a hot new project from Mark Ronson (producer, DJ and musician) and Diplo which is called Silk Road. The recently reunited band, The Gaslight Anthem are scheduled to perform their run away album The ‘59 Sound. In total more than 65 artists will be showcased at this year’s festival.

The line-up poster features one blanked out band title in the headlines which has set the rumor machine ablaze. There’s wild speculation about who the yet to be announced act joining the other mega star headliners is. The yet to be announced performer is being teased and stoked by the organizers with a tweet claiming there’s a fun surprise coming. Many fans claiming they can make out an “L” from under the redacted mystery name. The rumor mill is churning out suggestions top tipped acts based on that letter. These include Lana Del Rey, Lorde and LCD Soundsystem but it looks like we’ll have to wait til Founders Entertainment are ready to announce.

The line-up has courted some controversy with one artist taking to social media to complain about his position on the line-up poster. Legendary rapper 2 Chainz is on the 9th line of the promotional poster, under 24 other bands and artist. He’s not pleased by this treatment and wrote on Instagram “Whoever did this flyer need to do it over !!!”. Festival organizers have yet to comment on his beef with the font size.

Governors Ball is in its eighth year and will take over the festival grounds Randall’s Island Park in New York on June 1-3 for a jaw dropping line up of musicians and artists. It also features a number of other attractions including craft beer, cocktails, street art and lawn games. Tickets for VIP three day passes and General Admission passes for Governors Ball are on sale now.
