Heart has always been a rock band that has been influential to the music scene. Not even getting into the strides that they have made for gender equality in the rock and roll genre, some of their songs were simply too good to ignore. One of the songs that wasn’t all about the bluesy and hard rock that made them famous was their hit track “Alone”. This has been featured in both movies and television throughout the years, but likely not as much as some of their other (and consequently more famous) offerings. Here are some great examples of their song “Alone” in television:
1. It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia S9E6 “The Gang Saves The Day”
While this show has become quite a turn to the absurd for audiences all over the globe, it is always something new from week to week. With insurmountable scenarios happening each and every episode, they have used quite a lot of songs in the seasons they have been on the air. In this particular episode, the gang has witnessed a robbery, and all individually come up with statements that will absolve them of any wrongdoings while making them out to be heroes. In a scene where Dennis happens to see the local weather girl for the first time in person, he is in awe of her presence and you can hear “Alone” being played in the background.
2. Cold Case S4E9 “Lonely Hearts”
Cold Case is always good for giving a rich backstory to fictional murders that have taken place decades before. In this particular episode, the team is trying to solve the murder of both Martha Puck and Ramon Delgado. When the perpetrator is being led through the bullpen of police desks and to the cell where she will be held until her arraignment, the song “Alone” plays in the foreground. This is a fitting song for the theme of the episode, with the murders being committed against two people who teamed up to con lonely women out of their money and other valuable belongings through a dating site.
3. Glee S1E5 “The Rhodes Not Taken”
When April (Kristen Chenowith) comes back to Lima to see her old friend Will who is now teaching music and leading the Glee Club, her presence is unmistakable. In a riveting portrayal of the song “Alone” that both Will and April sing together, you can almost cut the tension between the two singers with a knife. Will had always idolized April, admitting in the episode that she was the reason that he joined Glee Club in the first place when they were kids, citing that his biggest regret is that he never had the opportunity to sing together. So, at the karaoke night of the Lima bowling alley, the two finally share the stage together by performing this song.
As you can see, there are not an overwhelming amount of instances in which you can find this particular song on the silver screen or on your television set, but it has still been a motivating choice whenever it has been used for certain scenes.
