He played the role of Keith Partridge who was the son of Shirley Partridge. His on-screen mother was played by his real-life stepmother Shirley Jones. He appeared in 96 episodes of this television series between 1970 and 1974. It was this show that also launched his singing career as he took on the role of lead singer for the recordings from the show. His first single ‘I Think I Love You’ was from the series and had his stepmother singing backing vocals.

2. Cherish

‘Cherish’ was the first single that David Cassidy sang as a solo artist that was unconnected to ‘The Partridge Family’. This was the lead single on the album of the same name. It reached number nine on the Hot 100 Chart in the United States, number three in the Canadian charts, and number one in both New Zealand and Australia.

The album reached number 11 on the UK Singles Chart in the same year. ‘I Write the Songs’ later became Barry Manilow’s signature song.
