Stranger Things fans have a lot to get excited about this month. Not only do we have a season full of brand new episodes coming with upcoming second season premiere (Oct. 27th), but now we’ve been promised an after show! This will be unique to season two and has a lot of people buzzing about what it will feature, and how it will play out on this platform. If you’re a total mouth breather and have never heard of Stranger Things, you can check out a great season one overview here for a quick catch up before binge watching (because you’ll totally want to).

An after show on the other hand is literally a show that takes place after an episode airs. Generally we see cast member interviews, reviews on what happened, listen to fan input and reactions, talk theories and maybe even see some behind the scenes fun. “Talking Dead” by Embassy Row is a great example of a successful aftershow (for the Walking Dead), while others (even a Game of Thrones after show) haven’t fared quite as well.
Embassy Row is also behind the Stranger Things new aftershow and will feature Jim Rash, a big fan of the show, (who you may know from American Dad, Family Guy, also winning an Oscar in 2011 for Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay for The Descendants) as it’s host, Unlike other after shows, Netflix is presenting this one in a much different way since this one it isn’t live. Since you can binge watch Stranger Things, it only make sense that this show, called, Beyond Stranger Things, is bingeable too.
The second season of the main show will have nine episodes, with the after show having seven (which begs the question, which two episodes aren’t we covering?). Netflix warns viewers not to watch the aftershow until they’ve watched Stranger Things completely since the aftershow is full of spoilers.
Now if you are tempted to binge race to watch Stranger Things season two, you’d better make sure you get in time Beyond Stranger Things, or you may still be behind the rest of the world in terms of insights and clues. It will be interesting to see how Netflix plays this out, and if this show model is successful or if an after show is one of those things better served live. How many cast members will we see be a part of it? Will they be giving us big clues about some of the mysterious things happening? Will they be hinting at season three clues (please say yes)?
At the very least, we’ll be getting many more hours worth of stranger fun. I’d be excited to hear cast members discussing favorite scenes and their own theories for how the show will progress, or to even just see them out of character and how they interact together “off script.” So there you have it. That’s the scoop on all things stranger. Don’t forget to get your snacks ready, a comfy spot on the couch tonight, Friday Oct 27th, and buckle up for what’s sure to be a wild ride.
