The Four Seasons were at one point more popular than the Beatles and began their run in the 1960’s and 70’s, and their hit song Walk Like A Man kind of proved it. Before taking the name that would get them known and ultimately seal their fame they were known as The Four Lovers, a name that many people today probably don’t know about. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and their sound has been appearing ever since on TV shows, movies, and even in video games. They’re sound is one that a person really has to get into but is otherwise quite nice. They’ve gone through their fair share of members through the years and are still performing today.
Here are a few examples of how their song Walk Like A Man influenced pop culture.
5. Heart and Souls
There’s a belief that when we die if we leave something undone or unfinished then our souls cannot really be at rest. It’s an interesting plot for a movie as these four souls embark upon a lifelong journey with a young man that is meant to give their lives some closure and to benefit from their unique and individual experiences upon his life. In the end they wind up learning more from one another than they’d originally intended.
4. Jersey Boys
This is the story of Four Seasons and how they came to be. As a biographical film it’s not bound to be one hundred percent accurate but it does a fairly good job. Most movies will take what they want from the truth and then work it around the story as they see fit, but Jersey boys gives at least a decent representation of the band and how they came to be.
3. Dear America: Letters Home from Vietnam
This TV movie made a decidedly huge impact upon the audience since the letters being read were actual letters sent home by soldiers describing their experiences during the Vietnam War. It gave a much more personal look to the war and what it was doing to the young men that fought in it. While it might not have been popular with some it was definitely an insight that many people found interesting.
2. Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons
They were the absolute heartthrobs of their era as their voices and their looks drove women wild and kept concerts packed each and every night for the most part. While the crowds weren’t quite as big as they are now for a concert the fact is that most of those that heard about this band playing at whichever venue they could book were there without question.
1. Sleepers
This has to be one of the most disturbing movies ever since the four friends that went away to juvenile hall for the inadvertent harm they caused were beaten and raped beyond belief. Eventually they managed to get their revenge however, and would remain friends for as long as it took to reconnect for a single night. After that, the friendship was just a fond memory.
The Four Seasons were one of THE biggest bands in history at one time.
