The Top Five Uses of Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” in Movies or TV

Surprisingly enough this song was inspired by Caroline Kennedy, daughter of John F. Kennedy, when she was only 11 years old. Don’t go thinking creepy thoughts, Neil Diamond didn’t have any unhealthy obsession with the president’s little girl, but the song came together about five years after he saw a picture of Caroline and her parents on the cover of a magazine. The song itself was to his wife Marsha, but he needed a three-syllable name to make it work. Not long after it was released the song was featured in many TV shows and later on has been featured nearly everywhere at least once. Admit it, you’ve gotten the urge to sing the song whenever it comes on the radio.

It’s okay, we all have at one point or another, it’s a great song.

5. Hyundia Commercial

By now you should know that car companies and virtually anyone making a commercial will attempt to sell their product using whatever means they can to get your attention and make the product look better. In this case the car isn’t enough, you have to be given a song that makes it difficult to not react in some way. They definitely know how to get peoples’ attention.

4. Ted 2

This seems like a very silly weakness to have on top of being a big fluffy bear. Ted has to be one of the foulest mouthed toys alive but the fact that he simply has to sing along with this Neil Diamond song seems like something that might be better off as a comic book weakness than something that might make its way into a movie setting.

3. The Strain

The Strain is one of the creepiest vampire shows ever created it would seem since the vampires are a lot like the creatures from Blade 2 but without the strange parting of the jaws to facilitate feeding. It’s also one of the most intense series since it doesn’t seem to have much in the way of inhibitions other than the those that prevent fully nude bodies being seen on TV.

2. American Idol

This is pretty cool since this singer actually got tips from Neil Diamond on how to sing his song it would seem. That has to be an honor of the highest sort to get from any performer. Plus, the guy actually comes out and nails the song without hardly any effort, singing his heart out and wowing the fans as he belts out each note with perfect pitch.

1. The Big Bang Theory

Sometimes it’s awkward when you and another person don’t have a lot in common. It can make for some long, boring car rides in fact and even a lot of strange silences that you hate to break just because you don’t know what to say and chit chat is kind of overrated at times. But then, if you happen to like the same musical artist, something magical happens. You realize that you suddenly have more in common than you thought and everything becomes right with the world.

Admit it, as you were reading this the song was playing in your head or you were singing it.
