Writer and director, Josh Boone, has established as a talented and creative mind in Hollywood. Josh has written directed and produced films in Hollywood that have a set a standard that makes him a prized commodity for those looking for quality content that sells at the box office. Josh’s breakout came when he wrote Stuck in Love back in 2012, which got the attention of the powers that be in tinsel town. Through the buzz created around Stuck in Love, Josh got the opportunity to direct The Fault in Our Stars in 2014, and he wrote and directed The New Mutants which is due out in 2018. Josh has been a busy man, and right now the sky is the limit.
Despite all that Josh Boone has down, it is likely that you know very little about him, so here are five things you did not know about him.
1. Despite Being Young, He is Respected
Hollywood is a place where it can take a lifetime to earn your place, and you can lose it all in the blink of an eye, so when a young writer and producer is slotted to direct a film adapted from one of Stephen Kings best novels (which is saying a lot), one might tempt to wonder where did this kid come from. Josh was 34 years old and a relatively unknown entity in Hollywood when he was drafted to direct the film, but although he was young, he was respected because of his ability to develop a clear vision about how to move projects forward.
2. Warner Bros. & Stephen King Obviously Have a Thing for Him
When you are attempted to break into one of the toughest industries on the planet, it does not hurt to have Stephen King and Warner Bros. Pictures admiring your work and your potential. It seems that Boone could end up adapting and directing no fewer than two maybe three of King’s novels including Lisey’s Story and The Stand. It is Boone’s gift to effectively interpret highly visual novels and determine the best way to get them to the big screen.
3. He Is Very Private
You might think that a young man who is experiencing as much success in Hollywood as Josh Boone would be enjoying the spoils of victory to this point, but Josh has been able to maintain a very low-key profile and a high-profile city. This does not mean that he does not have a life, it simply means that he has chosen to keep that life completely private. It is like pulling teeth finding any juicy information on Josh outside of his work.
4. He is Extremely Engaged in the Casting of The New Mutants
Every director is different when it comes to casting. Some defer almost wholly to their casting director, and others work hand-in-hand with their casting director, but word has it that Josh played an immensely engaged role in choosing the cast for The New Mutants. I guess when you have such a clear vision of how you want to present a story, you best know what actors and actresses will be able to deliver in front of the camera.
5. His Concepts are Highly Visual
While it can be said that all film directors are visual by nature, Josh seems to have an innate ability to almost immediately visualize what he wants and then he brings it to life. For instance, he had the logo for The New Mutants on his director’s slate during the shooting process. If this is the logo that will be used to promote the film, look forward to a bloody movie because there is nothing soft-spoken about this logo.
