Richard Blais is an American TV personality who is best-known for his involvement with a wide range of Food Network programming. As a result, it should come as no surprise to learn that he is a chef, an author, and a restaurant owner in addition to that particular pursuit.
Here are five things that you may or may not have known about Richard Blais:
Got Started at McDonald’s
It is interesting to note that Blais’s career as a chef started out as McDonald’s, which is not famous for the excellence of its food in spite of its incredible success not just in the United States but also in other countries situated all around the world. There, he was known to experiment with the menu items within the limits of what was permitted to him. Considering that Blais has something of a reputation for hamburgers, it seems safe to say that his time at McDonald’s paid off for him.
Has a Lot of Expertise with Fish
Speaking of which, it is interesting to note that Blais has a lot of expertise and experience when it comes to cooking fish to perfection. Once again, his time at McDonald’s seems to have helped him out, seeing as how he was reputed to have experimented a fair amount with its fish sandwiches by serving them without their top buns. With that said, while Blais can cook fish well, he has plenty of expertise and experience with other ingredients as well.
Runs a Number of Restaurants
Blais is responsible for running a number of restaurants. For example, there is Juniper & Ivy, which is a San Diego restaurant that specializes in serving up a more refined sort of American cuisine. Furthermore, there is another San Diego restaurant called the Crack Shack, which is focused on the countless ways with which to cook chicken as well as chicken eggs. Finally, there is the FLIP Burger Boutique, which lives up to its name by specializing in burgers at all of its locations.
Has Hosted a Number of TV Shows
On a similar note, Blais has hosted a number of TV shows over the course of his career. For example, there was the time that he hosted Cook Your Ass Off, which was a cooking competition that had a twist in that it was focused on healthier eating, as well as another cooking competition called Man v. Master that is exactly what it sounds like. There was also The Hungry Games, which was not a cooking competition but rather a scientific look into the human decision-making process when it comes to choosing between new foods to eat.
Married to a Woman in the Restaurant Business
Running restaurants tends to be a time-consuming process. As a result, it is fortunate that Blais got married to a woman named Jazmin, who has more than enough experience with the restaurant business to understand just how demanding it can be. Interestingly, the two actually met at a restaurant where Blais was working as a chef and Jazmin had applied for the position of bartender in order to pay for her going to graduate school at the same time.
